I love the ts808 for metal. I was considering a keeley mod but his rates have skyrocketed over the past few years.

Like many of us, I've cycled through a basket full of OD. My favorite for a long time was a stock Boss SD-1 because it sounds great through my amp. I would just keep it on all the time and vary the drive with pick attack and the guitar's volume knob. I also love the EHX Germanium OD and find it to be a terribly underappreciated pedal.

For close to a year now I've been using a Lovepedal Les Lius -- mostly because I bought into the hype, but also because of one poster here that came and went in an eye's blink but had some fantastic insight into chasing Neil Young's tone with modern pedals. I'm only a moderate Young fan, but I love that damned Tweed Deluxe sound.

Just scored a Vintage Proco RAT on eBay and can't wait to get it...
I've paid just 10 Euros more than a new RAT2 goes...
Heard many good things about it...we'll see if it's gonna be my new no.1 pedal....

My favorite (so far) is the ProCo RAT (small box) (90's) (WITH TEH MOJOz CHIP!!). It's responsive and lovely. Lovely on my transistor bass amp, lovely on a AC-30, etc.etc.

I play through a DLS/OCD Dual Drive pedal I built myself at rehearsals and I love that. When we're gigging nothing beats my Marshall 6100 Crunch Channel.

Basically I like Marshally Overdrive, a lot.

Nice to hear, i play through an AC30....

Fulltone OCD... it really is quite versatile, and there's enough gain on tap without getting too silly.

I'm consistently altering the knobs which can in fact be a little irritating, but I wouldn't change it for the world. Very trustworthy device.

I had a keeley rat that sounded more like a fuzz to me than a distortion/od box. Is it like this with all rats?

i'm a muff man meself. loved every flavour I've had. I also loved the MBM TB3 that I wish I hadn't sold now

I've come to the conclusion that the Proco Rat is my favourite dirt pedal. Sounds great and does so with any amp, as i'm not often able to use my amps for practice/gigs this is a neccesity for me. So i'm now on the lookout for another - one for low gain and one for higher gain.

My Sonic Pharmacy "Ernest Borgnine" One Knob Germanium fuzz. It's a monster.

To me, the late '70s/early '80s Little Big Muff on the high setting is the fuzz sound. Why? Because it was the first pedal I ever played through. I managed to find one recently and it still works for me, I have to say. My BYOC Tonebender II clone is pretty good too.

of all the dirt pedals I've ever owned I'll never get rid of my 78 IC big muff, and my old ruetz modded rat. I know its kinda boring and cliche, but they just sound so right.
big muff gets the super saturated fuzz sound. I ALWAYS have the tone knob bypassed and the fuzz 50-80%. THe rat I like about the same level of distortion and the eq pretty trebly. I like it more for an overdrive than full on distortion

Some folks really seem to like the Danelectro Fab Tone DD-1. Mogwai, for example, loves it. I can't figure out if is still being made. The Danelectro website has no reference to it, but Musician's Friend says they are shipping next month. I was going to pick one up in a pawn shop for $35, but maybe I should wait for a new one?

I love my EHX/sovtek green big muff. Because it has so much balls with my marshall jtm45 with a orange4x12". A great pedal!

I would like to put a word in here for my Fuzz Probe. It's both everyday and fucking mental all in one pedal.

I'm a big fan of pedals that interact well with the controls on my guitar. My favourite overdrive/distortion at the moment is definitely the EHX Double Muff, which is criminally underrated. I can back off on the volume on my guitar in double mode and get an awesome, jangly drive sound, which, in a world of full of tubescreamer clones, is really refreshing. I really like my Proco Rat 2; it's great for Black Sabbath-y sounds.

I primarily use my Tubescreamer usually always on then I tap on my Marshall Shredmaster(mk1) or my US Rat2 or my old green Sovtek Big Muff if I want to go into heavier turf. I use this setup because I play a Fender Super Reverb and this setup covers tons of groung sonically for me.

Ah, another ShredMaster owner. Mine was my primary dirt for a few years. I should revisit it.

You should, and try puting another pedal in front of it like an SD-1 or a Tubescreamer.
