once i get my pedals sorted out, i wouldn't mind adding a couple of various reverbs to get some washy sounds.
the only bad reverb i've played was a danelectro. I don't remember what sandwich or meat it was. But, it basically functioned as a really shitty slap-delay (which i don't like anyway) and not at all a reverb. It's one of only two pedals i've had that basically were no fun, the other being a Rogue Volume pedal that basically went from quiet scratchy noise to loud scratchy noise.

Yeah, I've never met a "bad" reverb pedal per se either, but I always thought the Boss or Digitech reverb pedals just weren't as intuitive for me. There were good sounds in there, especially the Boss RV3, which is one of the best pedals ever made if you can dial it in right, but the EH Holy Grail Nano is so much easier for me. I'm not too picky about tone, and honestly, I'm more of a ballpark type of player than one who really dials in everything, so I like stuff where I can just kind of roll the knob with my foot and get it to pretty much where I need to be if I'm a bit off. Having one knob where it generally always sounds good is more preferable for me than a pedal that has three knobs where some of the combinations of knobs can result in unusable tone. That's also why I prefer the EH LPB-1 over other boost pedals, for instance. That thing just works for me, nothing to mess up, just one knob and a switch. Honestly, if it came down to it, on my pedal board, I just need a tuner, an LPB, a Holy Grail, and maybe an analog delay, that's it.
That's my philosophy on pedals. Simpler is better. When I'm recording, I can always use DI and software effects and stuff so I can use all the fancy settings I want because most $300 reverb pedals aren't even going to be as nice as a nice software plugin. So as far as stomps go, I just like them to not mess up too badly. But that's just me. I can see why some people want fine control.

I scored an RV-5 for $60 off of craigslist. The modulated reverb is really all that and a bag of sex chips. I turn it on and am instantly reliving all stuff I heard and listened to those late nights when I was 14 watching 120 minutes way too late into the night. Totally essential for your Explosions in the Sky post-rock stuff, too.
The other settings are not particularly good. The Hall setting is workable, the spring is meh. The gated function is fucking weird and ugly, so it might have some use for weirdness. Happy to have the behringer reverb machine and this. All I want now is a real spring reverb tank and I'll be set for ever.

wow! that was cheap. congrats!
i noticed you cant play this pedal with distortion. sounds like shit. only for clean sound use. i only use delay with distortion to get great sound.
youre right modulate effect on this pedal is the best.
try to put on delay hall with this modulate effect and you get the heaven sound.
