I wish I'd read this post before I spent half the evening bejeweling my Jaguar...

from memory it was just a standard MG69 that Fender refinished for her? or was it a US made custom shop mustang?

you're missing the point.
at least you wouldn't be a 120lbs Asian dude playing a hello-kitty guitar.

Shak's guitar is boss, that thing would be awesome even if it was just some fat dude's. It's cool no matter who owns it simply by virtue of its inherent coolness. It's also gross as fuck.
Is this a real fender

Here's an interesting comparison on champagne sparkles from this year's 2012 Winter NAMM show... first is a regular champagne sparkle:
And then the second one, which is the same champagne sparkle paint color, but with real copper flake in it... it had to be painted specially in order to handle the size of the flakes:
If I was going for maximum coolness in terms of flash and sparkle, that would be much better than rhinestones IMO.

Call me old fashioned, but I wouldn't be caught dead playing with a sparkle, rhinestone, or hello kitty guitar.
No matter how good they may look on bilinda, shakira, or honeyiscool

Late 90s era, made in Korea? Those are great guitars IMHO.
