It's aged to a peach color over the years... You can see where the original pink is under the pickguard
The frets edges stick out a bit and cut your fingers... hence the reason it never sold.
This is common and easy to fix with a metal file, sand paper, and some masking tape.. Didn't even bother to plug it in just took it apart.
The wood grain on the neck is good though once the frets are taken care of should play nicely.

Just peachy!
Good on you for picking that thing up, I imagine given the chance have bought it for $225 as well.
A little TLC and you've a got a very pretty Vista-era Squire, and that's all that matters, methinks.

thanks ultra,
it's a cool little guitar. I did a quick pass over with the file and it's all ready way better. Going to do one more pass tomorrow and then start to work on the rest of the set-up.

maybe, I don't even know how the bucker sounds... I plugged it in and tapped on the thing to make sure it worked, but i've yet to play a single note on the guitar.

So i've got it all set-up and it's a really fun guitar to play. The humbucker has a great deal of crunch to it.. playing on a clean channel it all comes down to how hard you hit the strings. If you're playing lightly its got a really well rounded clean tone, but as soon as you hit the strings with any force it crunches and gets a bit muddy... it's a noisy feedback prone guitar in general. The coil tap drives the white noise over the edge... however, It can be tamed with a light touch.
After filing the frets down I was actually impressed with the neck on the guitar. It's not a satin finish but it's not quite a a poly finish either.. and shallow C shape with great grain patterns and over all very comfortable. The 10 guage strings I use on the tele are way too tight on this thing and makes the 10's feel like 11's or even 12's when trying to do bends.
Not a single nick dent or scratch of the thing anywhere..

never knew these had a factory push-pull coil split. Is that tele knob original?

yeah a bass to compliment it would be sweet, keep us informed so we don't bid on the same one... a shortscale bass is my next purchase without a doubt
