During the 2008 elections in the USA the owner of Danelectro donated money towards the Proposition 8 campaign, a statute that effectively banned gay marriage in California, so shortscalers aren't happy about the purchase of Dano equipment brand new, effectively handing money over to an organisation that actively pursues the oppression and discrimination of homosexuals.
I own a fair bit of Dano stuff but from now on all my Dano purchases will be second-hand or not at all.
Fuck it. I say buy a new Dano and play Village People and George Michael songs on it .

first one looks like a guitar drawn by a cartoonist who can't draw and doesn't know what a guitar looks like (ie Cathy Guisewite). I prefer the second one. Politics aside, go buy a new Gibson.

I've played a Dead on 67 many times. The neck is great, probably my favorite part of the guitar. The bridge is absolute crap, it uses a piece of wood that's guaranteed to warp over time. I only liked the sound from having both pickups on. The bridge pickup is just too treblely for me. If I got one, I'd put a new pickup in the bridge position.

The wooden bridge is fine. My Dano is nearly 12 years old and the bridge hasn't warped and it all works fine.

New Gibsons aren't that popular, not even with Gibson devotees.
