The pickguard from a MiM won't fit a squier duo or vice versa.
Well mine wouldn't anyway unless I just brought a crap one

Well i best not order one from them either then ;)

In other news I just tore the whole thing apart. The neck pocket has odd bulges routed in the corners exactly the same as a MIM tele I saw and as seen on internet pics of some MIMs. I might be wrong but I think that is unique to (some) MIM guitars and could lend credibility that this basswood body that has been cheaply built and finished is of marginally more value for having been cheaply built and painted not in china!

I've got a superb idea for this project [/cocktease]

I think this duo has been tinkered with previously - it's got full size 500k pots for a start. Surely a chinese single cold will have small alpha style 250k? Also the soldering on the 3 way switch is literally a boulder and is actually loose. The cap says 473k 100v.

Basswood.

My franken-sonic was one of those duo's with a jagmaster conversion neck on it, intonated like a champ. You could also throw a standard strat neck on there with no intonation issues.

I also used a toranado string through bridge.
looks good. really like the green on black. is it a seymour duncan or dimarzio rail in bridge?

Was a SD hot rail. Wonder what ever became of it after JimJam sold it on...

My mim had full size 250k's in it.

oddness abounds!

I have to say the only thing I don't like about it is the neck is way too wide. Its crying out o be A-width. I'm think of sanding the sides, fret and all, down.

Oh and needs 7.25" radius

I'm also toying with just stringing the middle four strings as a Tenor guitar. Or seeing if I can tune all six strings up an octave

i had a 1997 squier one.

i loved the neck on mine. wore the finish off WITH MY FUCKING HAND DUDE.

stock tuners were shit. i put compstang tuners on it as soon as bought a set of white plastic ones for my compstang.

from what i remember the stock pickups were shit. they were only in it about a week while i waited for a set of SD SJAG-3's to come in.

used .13 flatwounds on it. wouldn't stay in tune in E worth a shit. so one day i got pissed at it and tuned it up to F. it would hold tune in F better than any of my other guitars would ever stay in E or D#. SOLID. plus i wrote a lot of new songs in F and F# with that thing that never would have been written that way before.

covered the SJAG3's with black mustang covers. at some point i took the SJAG3's out and put them in my comp stang.

i cant remember what the fuck pickups were in it now that its gone and sold.

Neck on the squier is definitley cheeeaaap-as, maple cap, super low machine ground frets, plain truss hole....its got the same feel as other chinese cheap necks I've tried so I'd be surprised if the MIM neck was the same. Does that sound like the neck on the MIM?
mim is maple cap too.
