there was a huge backlash against this guitar on the Fender forums a few months back. Frank Kozik actually registerd and posted a response to the effect of that he sold a whole bunch of designs to fender a few years back, this being one of them.

I agree that it sends a bad message, but I just don't give a shit 'cause I feel like the guitar would want it that way.

I've argued that while this is true (which I don't actually believe) I don't care anymore because of the huge influence this toy acoustic's message has already had on me (which it hasn't actually done... yet).
