No offense but this kind of thread is why I don't post on guitar forums as much as I used to. I simply cannot believe this guy took so many identical pictures of his guitar with different knobs to get a general consensus online as to what looks the best from a bunch of strangers.

Pick some fucking knobs and play the damn thing. Or spend countless masturbatory hours on the kisekae guitar builder website matching up pickguard and knob combinations for your otherwise boring new squier.

Also I feel kind of bad making this post because it's a new member and it makes me look like a dick. Too bad, it's hate thursday.

Go with the white witch hats, those knobs give you the best tone.

c'mon man.. the guitar was in bits, the knobs were off because i'd just replaced the pickguard and i've got a ton of knobs lying around. i did it as much out of interest in hearing people's opinion as i did in having this pics available online for other people to see when/if they're considering what knobs to buy.. a public service if you will..

or won't.

i can see where you're coming from, but projecting your interpretation of what's happening can make people feel less inclined to share stuff like this. if someone google's 'mascis jazzmaster black pickguard white witch hats' and finds this thread, that's got to be a good thing hasn't it?

Understood, and cool to hear that was the angle you were going for.

I thought twice before making such an inflammatory post  not helping my case any I'm aware.

Anyway though, seriously, I'd stain some white hats and go with those. I think my favorite look for your guitar though would be black pickup covers with black hats

yeah.. i was thinking of buying a white rhthym switch and staining that too. and spraying the roller knobs. it's just a matter of how close i can get them to the same as the body colour.

can you undo the coffee staining?

done

Seriously, sometimes it only takes making an asshole post and a good nights sleep.

Anyway as far as the coffee staining goes, it can't really be undone as far as I know....maybe soaking them in bleach? Again, never tried it but if done correctly the stain seems permanent (and looks quite authentic). I've done this with strat knobs and pickup covers before, looks way nicer than just getting a set of cream hardware.

I'd say if you're curious about staining and possible removal, try it with a cheapo strat knob or something you've got a lot of laying around before you possibly deface a set of good white witch hats....it really isn't rocket science though and I did it well on my first try. The stains take forever to set so it's just a matter of checking on them regularly and taking them out when you're satisfied with the shade.

Yeah I've had similar issus with staining white parts (ooh err) and the coffee/tea just rubbing off after a while.

Probably baking it on in the sun or even clearcoating might be an option.
