yea sure.I think if you keep your stuff to one thread like Freddy has done with his musical output or even what Mike has done with his pedals then you (we the reader) get to see the whole picture and an evolution in things. Just makes things more consistant, rather then just dotted threads about the place.
If that makes sense?
i guess.
well, it might make sense to the folks that hang out regularly, but anyone new wouldn't have a clue.
and then, i'd be 'bumping' the same thread up all the time, and somebody would gripe about that.
hm.......

The issue isn't with the bumping itself. If you bumped your thread every time you had a new song, that would be fine. The problem is that you bump your threads every few days without adding any new information just because you don't get as much of a response as you'd like.batsbrew wrote:and then, i'd be 'bumping' the same thread up all the time, and somebody would gripe about that.
well, typically i'll bump a thread if there's NO responses but lots of visits/hits, which is different than getting some reponse that 'i don't like'.
LOL
i just don't see why bumping a thread creates such a strong effect among certain members.....
seems like just a very small group of people complaining....
i know if most are like me, you only visit a site like this maybe once, twice a week...
so if i haven't looked at a thread for a few days, and see it sinking with no responses, my immediate thought is to bump it back up, because, just like me, maybe there's a whole contingency of folks who only have time to look on the site a couple of times a week, and they've misses the thread.
i know I don't scan down a long list of threads to see what i missed a week or two ago....
anyway, i hope this explains things a little bit better.

Maybe you'd understand if you had any clue about the type of community you're posting, what's expected, what's good/bad form, etc.batsbrew wrote:mike, i just don't see a problem. you are the one that brought it all up. all i did was bump my thread.
Harkens directly back to what Doog said at the beginning of the thread.

Even speaking as someone who doesn't post that much, I'd suggest looking around & getting a feel for the place & the various sub-forums here. One of the things I've noticed that seems to rub long-standing posters up the wrong way is anyone who makes posts with one agenda & one agenda alone. I think most of us here make music (this is a guitar forum after all!) - it's about how you present yourself & conduct yourself that'll be the difference between people listening to what you're up to or thinking "this guy again?batsbrew wrote:I occasionally browse the PUB, and there are a LOT of silly posts there, a lot of what i would call juvenile posts, it's just not something that appeals to me.
if this is strictly a "good-ole boy's club", then i guess i'm in the wrong place.
i'm looking for serious minded musicians, songwriters, and sound engineers, and folks that are into the gear for the end result... not just the gear.

Exactly, jumbled.
This isn't an old boys club, and I do get your point on the Pub (I don't post there often myself)... but it is a community based almost entirely on user contribution. WIthout contribution, advertising yourself generally won't go over well. People can be blunt here, even juvenile, but, for the most part, outside of the Pub, people will conduct themselves pretty well and are good folks with lots of good insights and information... the pub is for silly.
