1. Humbuckers for live stage work
2. Bigsby
3. Single coils for twang
4. Pickup-equipped acoustic
5. Something that jangles
6. Rock machine

1 & 2 are covered by my DuoJet
3 is covered by my Telecaster and my DuoSonic
4 is covered by my Airline Folkstar
6 is covered by my Duojet and my Telecaster

5 is the odd one out - Rickenbacker?

Go To Electric--HAVE--My goofy Schecter
Basic Acoustic--HAVE-- an old silvertone peice of shit that I love, and my brother's generic guitar that I inherited.
Banjo--HAVE--and old (circa 1890-1930, huge range, i know)
Classical--KINDA HAVE--My first guitar, a silvertone classical, but it's pretty much useless now.
Single Coil--DON'T HAVE--would love a tele for this role.
Ukelele--HAVE-- Just the bari, but that's what I like
Bass--DO NOT HAVE--would like a p-bass, maybe a jazz(sexier)
12 string--Might have"? I don't remember. I'm a drunk.

Mustangs - For great rhythm / low output guitar
Jaguar - Great versatile guitar with the treblies
Jazzmaster - Thick rock/Fuzzy tones
Telecaster - Rock staple

Super-Sonic/Jagmaster/KC Mustang- Humbuckers for heavier tones
Squier Venus XII/ Fender XII - Twelve string tones
Coronado/Starcaster - Semi-hollow tones

Taylor 614-ce - acoustic strumming-fingerpicking
Taylor 816-ce - heavy acoustic strumming

I'm a simple guy. I've stripped down a fairly diverse collection to a musicmaster and musicmaster bass. Singlepickup isn't just a username--it's a state of mind.

We'll see how long this really lasts. I get the urge to buy a new guitar every other day or so.

Number one axe: Batwing. It covers a fair few bases for a single-coil guitar, and I do love single coils. It's versatile, the trem works brilliantly (similar to a strat trem but.. better. And also irreplacable THANKS BURNS DESIGN TEAM) and it looks great. It's me. I'll never, ever get rid of it.

Hard rock guitar: Burns Nu Sonic. It currently has a set of GFS Loudmouth pickups (the HOT variety) and is tuned down to C most of the time, strung up with GHS 10-60s. It sounds like doom.

Alt-rock cred axe: Fender Jaguar. Modded with a Wilkinson roller bridge and a Seymour Duncan hot Jag in the bridge position. Black scratchplate on sunburst with black witch-hat knobs. It's a looker and it sounds great and pretty meaty with the Duncan.

Classic rock embarrassment: Alden Chicago. The pickups, shape and sound are straight 70s rock. It's fun in a kind of I-probably-wouldn't-want-to-be-seen-doing-this-in-public-because-I'm-so-trendy, but I still like. Currently up for sale.

Slide: Danelectro U2, although I still love it for almost anything else.

Bass: Currently covered by a guitar through a POG. Sounds good. But Hopefully I'll be receiving a Gretsch Baritone next week which will be strung up as a Fender Bass VI.

12-string: Currently covered by a guitar through a POG, again. But hopefully I'll be buying an Italia Rimini 12 at some point in the near-ish future.

I like having lots of guitars, I've got the room, I play them all. I may not need them, but I've got my needs covered for everthing elso too.

It's interesting to know which one you would keep if you could only have one.

For me it would always be my Epiphone Les Paul. The Mustang is probably my fave, but the LP has sentimental value, I've had it 23 years and I don't think I could ever get rid of it, even if I couldn't play anymore.

For me I would have the following as my collection:

Jagstang: For standard tuning and general playing pleasure, best neck ever after all.
Les Paul: For gigging mainly, heavier stuff and drop tuning.
Tele: For alternative gigging guitar and single coils.
Gretsch 6118: For some hollow love.
A nice acoustic.

Melody maker - garage rock tonez
Dano 63 - LOUD NOISES
Ibanez bass - basslines
Cheap fender dg4 acoustic for slinging in the boot of the motor to pass about at parties

I have the room, and I love having lots of guitars. I just don't have the time to play them all anymore (stupid job). So if I find that I'm not playing a guitar for an extended period of time, I sell it. I'd rather it be someone else's guitar and it get some use, then it just gather dust in my house. This is why I've gone through over 20 guitars this year... buying and selling them.

It certainly is the smallest neck I've ever owned. It makes my little hands look Hendrixian. Funnily enough, probably the Fender neck I have most dissimilar to it is my Jaguar's. My Classic 70s strat neck feels closer.

Sounds like you need to make more time to play guitar

I have way too many guitars but I love them. I literally have no other hobbies or even aspirations that are totally unrelated. Except maybe reading comics, which isn't really a hobby. It's like playing video games or with yourself.

Soon enough. In July I'm launching a business, so right now I'm busy as fuck with the pre-launch, my regular 9-5 job, subbing for another band's guitar player while his other band is touring in Europe, and working on my thesis. I figure by mid fall, I can get me more guitar time.

It is one of my favourite necks as well. Ridiculously comfortable.

Paul, Fran, Thom ... any thoughts on how the JS neck compares to a Stang neck?
