Nah. I'm gonna try rubbing alcohol and if that doesn't work I'm gonna research some more chemical removers. I definitely don't want to sand. The finish on this is a strong high urethane finish like on the reissue Jag-Stangs. Pretty much a hard plastic over a thin layer of paint lol.

Sanding? wtf kind of guitar tech do you have?

There must be a thousand other things to try before sandpaper

He's psychotic, but his work always looks good and has yet to fail me. And his shop always has good coffee. His words: light sanding in the affected area, then buff it back to a shine.

Sounds like a recommendation for nitro rather than poly. For poly Squier/Fender/Epiphone guitars I just use naphtha or rubbing alcohol on a rag with a bit of elbow grease.

Have removed sharpie from my own guitars many times, mainly my Epi G400 and "I Shot Dimebag" tele.

I used toothpaste to take sharpie off our kitchen table. No joke.

Right...but toothpaste is also a tad abrasive and might dull the shine. Unlikely, but it's the sort of thing I would test out on an area of the guitar covered by pickguard before going right for the front of the body.

You haven't, because...what, you're one stylin dude?

BTW, people outside Cheektowaga haven't used "dude" and "like" in like 15 years.

Has the purple Fender Cyclone ever surfaced. That thing was on Fender's specs list 4ever and I have never seen one.

I once saw a repair guy here erase an oil-based permanent marker autograph on a guitar with a dab and quick rub of gasoline.

+1

Lighter fluid or gasoline will take it off the quickest, and poly won't mind.

Haha, that's funny.

Jagsonic's guitars make me drool every time I see his avatar. Doesn't hurt that he always takes bad-ass pictures of them.
