yeah... some shit about volume swells right. except that you can do volume swells with the plate the right away around anyway. pointless mod is pointless.
It is easier though.

I've yet to meet anyone who likes the plate flipped who actually touches their volume control EVER, except maybe to kill the sound between songs. I concede that you have to stretch your pinky a bit more to do volume swells in the normal position, but if anything flipping it just makes it too easy to turn yourself down on accident, far easier than accidentally flipping a horizontal blade switch. Plus having to reach so far away to change pickups is annoying. The only advantage it really gives is letting you do wah-wah tricks with tone knob swells, which is very specific niche (like if your target audience is baby boomer A&R men). Also, Stratocasters exist.
It seems, judging from the newer Teles that have it, that it's just become a hip thing to do. They're just bolting shit on back-to-front on "special runs" or "punk teles" to make certain Planks look less typical 60 years on.

Nothing against people who like that on their guitar, but I don't see why so many new Fender Teles have it that way stock from the factory. It's clearly an esoteric tweak.

I wish more Teles would come with rosewood fretboards. All recent ones have been predominantly maple.

I modded by Tele that way because I'm a heavy handed player who knocks my 5 position switch half the time when I'm playing.

That copperburst looks beautiful and I'm loving the paisley in the OP.

One finally showed up at my local store.... Am disappoint.

It's looked FAR better in the photos I've seen here... But hat could be finish variation, or light, or... This one didn't have much contract, basically looking mottled dark grey, and I really wasn't impressed with the hard edges/lines in the paisley print; I was expecting a little more softness to the shape lines. Having seen this one in person, I'm glad I didn't order one.

+1 on this it's the only thing I don't like about my blacktop tele... one day I'll get a router and be rid of the pesky bit of wood that stops me turning it the RIGHT way round
