I used the template I have and drilled holes for the trem. (I figured might as well do it before painting so I won't need to risk messing or marking up the paint finish.)

Then I went to work sanding the body.

Put some of the parts on to see how it looks. Not too bad. :)

Put some masking tape in to the TOM holes so I could seal without worrying about Z-Poxy going in to the holes.

Coat one of Z Poxy!

Looking good. May I call 1st Dibbs if you decide to sell it? I know already that it's gonna be sick!

You would be second to call dibs if I decided to sell it lol. Someone on OSG said the same thing a day or two ago. I am hoping I don't get the "I want to sell this" bug. :) It is coming along pretty well. I did my second coat of Z Poxy on the top. Starting to look glossy again.

What's with the Z-poxy? Hadn't heard of it before, I take it, it's a more stable sealer/base coat then nitrocellulose lacquer sealer. Are you using it because it's more compatible with your color?

Z Poxy is a two part compound that I use for sealing. It isn't super picky about being perfectly equal for the mix and seals well. :)

This is a kind of funny video with a guy using it on an explorer type body.

Got the third coat on. After it dries later I will lightly sand it and check to see if it is flat. If it looks good, I will work on the back next.

Just noticed, if someone were to wanna do this to a painted HH hardtail and didn't wanna refinish all they would have to do is move the trem up just a bit closer to hide the old stop bar holes.

Not really. The tremolo sits right between the holes. Would still be a good idea to plug them.

Unless you moved the trem way up like Blacktops and Classic players.

Yeah that's what I mean. On the classic players they are up close. I think they did it with the Marr Jag too. But seeing as you have the body, if you moved it up would it completely cover the holes? If so I may buy that sexy silver HH Jag body and put a trem on it.

I added a tremolo to a CIJ Jaguar HH and the tremolo won't cover the holes unless you move it forward.

But since you are filling it, no worries.

Is it bad to move it forward Taylor? The classic players are pretty close up. But it would definitely cover it if you moved it up?

It's not bad, it's just not vintage spec. The reason they move them forward is to increase the break angle of the strings.

Oh ok. Yeah they were making a big deal about it in a namm video I watched but if you do move it closer it definitely would hide the holes?

Measure to be sure, but I think it will. I wanted mine to be vintage spec so I didn't care.

This is where I was going too. Classic players and Blacktops are great, but visually they just look off to me.

The neck arrived today. It looks good. The tuners were slightly larger than the holes so I had to enlarge them a little bit for the bushings and posts to fit. (Very scary drilling the holes bigger...) Fortunately it all went well. The roller is on as well.

Only issue is since it is a US neck and the body is Japanese, the pocket is a little too big. I understand it makes no difference, so I am not too worried about it. :)
