depending on how long its been broken all the mojo arrows may have escaped and youll have to pray to the iommi gods for more arrows to enter the mojo of the pedal.

I went ahead and ordered a triangle Muff kit from Bitsbox (the company that works with the tagboardeffects blog...an earlier thread on here said it's all legit). The trannies are BC550C but since they're a few pence each I ordered four of the 2N5088 type as well, just to see how swapping them affects the sound. It was just over £15 in total after postage. :)

Odds are the difference between transistors won't be noticeable, but I'll have to try it to really be sure. I read the Kit Rae site again and the transistor issue sounds like the old argument about choice of body wood affecting guitar tone - it's a secondary consideration to other factors and is all academic if the original option isn't available to buy any more anyway. Apparently you're better off looking into different cap and resistor values...which I intend to do if the initial build works out.

If I wanted one particular model of Muff I'd just place an order with Mike again, but this time I want to experiment a bit on my own with different components. I'm interested to hear how it compares with my '78 IC version!

About to put an order in.

For our purposes, does it matter if a capacitor is ceramic or electrolytic? And does it matter what the voltage is on it?

Oh, and I'm guessing it's an SPDT switch needed for the tone bypass?

But if you really want the mustang knobs, here's three different kinds.

Sorry for the thread bump and the denseness, but how to do this? I need to order an extra 25k pot, a 22n cap and a 1k resistor?
Replace C1 with a 22n cap
Replace R2 with a 22k to 25k potmeter (wired as a variable resistor) with a 1k resistor wired in series.

Yup, I can give you some help afte rthat if you give me some decent photos or cricuit/layout diagrams for your build
Another dense/noob question, but would C1 and R2 on that site correspond to C1 and R2 on your vero layout?
