Done! Only went to 2000 grit, so its not the shiniest, but I don't care.
Only worrying bit is that I peeled the tape off where the rosewood starts and there is a 'lip' of paint there that seems like it will cheap easily. I Guess I should've sprayed clear over it after I did the color.

That is what I do. Spray the color and then retape it to the nut area when I do the clear coats.

Did a small clear coat fix up but when I taped it off the tape left marks in the paint.... sanded it out and polished it but its still visible. Also I guess I did not do enough clear coats or sanded too much as you can see there are some orange strips sanded out of the bear. Whatever, I definitely learned a lot about the process and it is passable. It will look badass when the body comes in, too.

Every body I have worked on has been a learning process. It is why I tend to avoid commission work. I am still learning and I prefer to work on it and do my best and see if someone likes/wants it than to try to make it FOR someone.
I end up way more nervous when someone is waiting on my work.

Body came today! Took me about an hour of swearing and sanding to get the squier neck to fit in, and its still off... It went in a little crooked and would not goo all the way down. It is a little off still but I just screwed it right into the holes, and in some cases were there went holes... and it worked. Chipped a bit of paint in the process.
Photobucket uploading is down I guess... so no pictures for you! Really hard getting the action right -- neck has been unused for 10 years or so so its backbowed, we'll see how it comes out.

Sounds AWESOME
just shimmed the neck perfectly and the action is really good now. Just truss rod adjustments from here on out. This thing looks awesome in person

I love it. I really need to finish my Jazzmaster.
I just need to sell my Squier Venus to afford more tools and materials.

The jazzy has 9s on it!! I got them for free and they were the only strings I had. Actually plays fine with them, surprisingly.

I am as well, but it's not for everyone. I may have to go the ebay route. There are 3 Venus guitars up right now, including a 12 string model.
Try to demo the Jazzmaster soon. What pickups did you finally go with? Forgive my laziness if you already said what they were.
