+1

Do it. His guitar is worth more than yours, and Tele Customs are fucking amazing

I'm gonna side with the USA Tele. The custom is cool (actually like sunburst on these) but the US one is the essence of Telecasters in a classic colour scheme.

Custom all the way. I dare say its 7.5" radius too so thats a bonus (if you like that) I think only the more pricey US reissues are vintage radius. Standard US Teles are ten a penny.

As you've already struck upon, play them both and chose the best. Then if it's the US one, put a three saddle bridge on it.

Cheers fella. I've had a hankering for a Jazzmaster and may have flung another Tele in the mix for trades. I kind of want a standard un-modded Jazzmaster to start off with so I shall refrain on this occasion.

So I went ahead and swapped my Jazzy for the US Tele. I tried both and this is the one I preferred, I was really after a Tele with the regular pickup configuration. There were comments that the colour was a bit boring but I thought it looked really good with the mint green pickguard. It's got a few nicks and scratches, the worst being wear to the finish on the back of the neck along the skunk stripe - but I think I can live with it. I wasn't too sure how I would get on with the maple neck as i've always preferred rosewood, but it felt really nice and the neck shape is pretty much the same as my Strat and other Jazzmaster. I took it apart when I got home and found a Seymour Duncan STK T1N Vintage Stack in the neck, so i'm wondering what it has in the bridge.

Well done!
I dont see how black is a boring colour for a Tele, its a fucking Tele and other than white it is probably the best colour on the model. I dont think Shoreline Gold or Seafoam Green w/matching headstock would compliment to be honest, i'm confused, can someone tell me what isn't a boring factory colour for a Telecaster?

I'd love a shoreline gold doublebound tele.

Teles look good in all sorts but I prefer them in conservative colours. Black, white, burst. I don't see why more of the pastille colours aren't more available though.

I just think Black/White Strats and Telecasters are fucking DULL.

Anything else would be better - the inverse - white with blackguard on a Telecaster is a hot as fuck.

Ban Mike.

Haha. You know, when you think of the big names has regularly used black or white Strats or Teles over the years the list is massive. Just off the top of my head;

Sound and feel is more important to me than colour by a country mile.

It makes me happy that Syd had a similar one.
