wiring help needed

do either pup make noise? you could unsolder the pots from the 3 way switch and go directly to the jack. to see if they work. otherwise unsolder everything and start from scratch. test along the way. you could take a volt meter to test that the leads are what you think they are. that the wire pairs are of the same coil.

they make noise, yeah. i'm going to be really shocked if there's a problem with the pups because i bought them new and it would be weird for both to be equally defective. i'm sure there is something going wrong with my wiring but honestly this is the fourth time i've done this and i don't understand what's happening.

i will definitely try your suggestion. i think probably something is shorting to ground? maybe i've shorted the switch somehow.

i spent another few hours on it and i officially gave up. i brought it in to a shop. oh well. thank you very much, cur, for your help and to everybody else in the thread!
