Yeah, these look like they're just gonna be P90s in the Bobkat reissue.

Here's a pic from my archives. The one on the left lasted about six months before I got rid of it.
I have one of those Hagstroms also. Yes, it's retarded that they just made it into a strat with a different body shape. I never play that guitar anymore because I don't like strats.
That doesn't look to be the case here, they replaced the bridge with something that actually works, and with pickups they can actually source. I also love those old style wonky pickups and have several lying around here, but the issue with them is that they aren't a standard size that I can fit into most guitars, and they are hard to find.
It's not like they went and changed the spec of the neck or something stupid like that (cough SUPERSONIC), they just reproduced it with hardware that they could actually source. You could put one of those super shitty bridges and old pickups on this reissue if you wanted to.

From the website:
We also paid special attention to the neck profile (we thought it best to actually give it a profile versus a table leg!), improving it with a modern C-shape, as well as coupling it to the body with a newly engineered neck joint system for longer sustaining notes.

I can't recall when a "modern C" has actually improved an instrument.

I had not noticed that. With that said, these are destined to fail from the start. Things are too fucking safe and moderate these days. We need more extremes in life like chunky Silvertone necks and thin Hagstrom ones and cars with fucking shark fins on them and Nintendo games that are impossible to beat. I need to either love it or hate it, fuck compromising. The "status quo" should be nothing more than an option. Would you go to a deli that only makes one sandwich or a library that only has one book? If I had to bring one guitar with me to a desert island I guess it would have a modern C neck because it's not too big, or not too small. Just non-offensively medium and right.

They should have made a Silvertone 1305 instead of a 1303. At least the color would be correct.

Ugh. Nevermind then, I take back what I said.
Though to be honest I hate thick necks so it would indeed be an improvement to me, I get how it would be bad for some people.
I will say that if these play and sound like my Silvertone Bass, then it's awesome. For some reason that goddamn $75 bass sounds and plays amazing.

These guitars are not by Danelectro, in case there was still confusion. They're by Samick using the old Silvertone brand that they have the rights to.
Danelctro released these "updated" re-issues of the old Hawk model for NAMM 2013 and couple other things.

But no Arto Lindsay style 12-string model.

I was wondering what Danelectro had for this year. Might buy one used.

Dude that place was a trip. I even recently told the story about my experience there and it's still hilarious.

I bet the Dano copy could sound sweet if the pickups are decent. As an owner of an actual Dano though I'm inclined to say "fuck dat".
