Nick, it's fucking colossal: a headstock longer than my 335, which is no tiddler itself.

Dull fact I've learned today: Gibson switched to Steinberger tuners (a popular aftermarket mod that many do to their Firebirds as the banjo tuners are bulky and heavy; not a mod I'll be making, however, as I love them) in 2010. What I didn't know was that this was because the banjo-tuner-making-machine was destroyed by a flood.

That flood was no fucking joke! All kinds of cool shit got destroyed.
I love the color of the firebird. I prefer it to sunburst and I love mini humbucker guitars.

Now has six (6) strings of a proper manly guage and a cleaned and oiled fretboard. It's fucking great - fretboard is wide and flat, and I can play it really fast. I think, on the sly, I've fallen in love with a shredder guitar.
EMBARRASING FACT: Every day since Sunday, I've woken up and excitedly said to myself "I've got a FIREBIRD!". I've only done this before when I got my Jag and my Jazzmaster.

BUMPDATE: I forgot to post the pics I took the other day...
Look at that finish checking. Just look at it.*

beautiful. firebirds are great. One of the very few Gibson designs I like.
Don't see a lot of cherry red ones round my area. Mostly sunburst.

I need a firebird in my life. One day I will have one in my collection. Great color by the way. It's usually always sunburst that people choose.

I love Firebirds so much. It pains me that I can't play them cause I'm too small a dude and I can't bring myself to not sling those bad boys super low (cause, you know... Firebirds)
The lack of contours on these, more than on any other guitar shape just obliterates my wrist.
But you know... I'm super stoked for you!

Now, y'see, I think Firebirds are one of the few guitars that look OK slung a bit higher. Default height for any guitar for me is 'central on the belt buckle', whereas the Firebird is a couple of inches above it. It's so fucking colossal it looks like you're leaning over a fence and playing it to the neighbours anyhow...
