I like that headstock shape. That's a really dark piece of mahogany there in the headstock, or is that some other wood?

Thanks! I kind of just sanded it until it took on an interesting shape. The overlay is a this piece of ebony, the neck is mahogany, the fret board is rosewood, and the sides are bubinga.

this is really coming along nicely. how did you cut away the excess ebony blocking the trussrod?

Thanks!

I used a very sharp chisel to cut a v shaped groove, then shaped it to look nice with sandpaper.

Dude, you can't post it like that. You have to put the new bits on and then take the picture. DO WANT TO SEE

Wowzers trousers, how've I missed this? I have to say, I prefer the original, larger scratchplate as in the plan. Looks amazing though, and am very impressed.

Thanks! I thought the original one looked a little too much like it came from a a PRS which is not for me.

Finished with tung oil. Still needs a little work, bridge needs to be modified a little to get the action lower, but I got to play it today! The weird mark on the pick guard is the protective plastic stuff coming off of it.

Will post better pictures tomorrow.

Lovely. I've not posted in this thread before but have been enjoying the updates. It reminds me of a Gordon Smith GS1 for its simplicity. The oiled finish works much better than I thought it would. Love the lone 12 fret inlay, too.

Thanks guys! I was kind of going for a melody maker / rick mix. I'm pretty happy with it, the string spacing is kind of narrow at the nut, but I can adjust that a little bit when I make a real nut for it, but then again I'm getting kind of used to it.
