I really like the separate control plate. It is the only Fender guitar that has a reversed Jaguar Control plate. More Chrome is always better.

They made a gold anodized pickguard for the Black Jaguar HH special, but I can't find a picture of one on the guitar to see how it would look next to the stock chrome control plate.

I got the neck on the guitar and I was able to sand off the mess on the pickguard.

I don't really have to change it, but I already have a white on black guitar. Mint and cream are in the lead I am still not decided.

I have a mint Jaguar guard I could pull out for comparison.

Looks great. I believe in the first post you meant "because of some nicks, the body is in great shape".

I emailed my local guitar tech and he quoted me $120 to make a bone nut and then setup the guitar.

Does that seem a little high to anyone?

Yeah totally seems high. I think all it cost to have a nut made at my local shop was about $35-50, haven't done that in a while now so I don't remember exactly. I normally just cut my own, but I did have a pro one done on my Musicmaster. You probably could just flip what is on there for the time being.

I'd say any higher than $75 is crazy for just making a nut and a setup.

Pens, did you flip the nut before you sent it to me? Is that the original nut?

I....think I flipped it? It's not the original nut, the original broke in half when I was removing it to flip, so I cut a new one from a blank though the grooves are really, really shallow due to the blank I was given wasn't very tall at all, I think it was made more for a modern strat which has a shallower nut groove. It definitely wasn't ideal but it worked so I went with it.

Set up an new nut should be around 60-70 tops. I believe it was 55 for me the last time I had it done. You're looking at double that... go somewhere else.

I think he is charging me about $70 for the nut and about $50 for the new setup. The nut is a custom bone nut which I guess he charges more for.

I should be able to setup the guitar myself. He setup my tele build and it cost me about $50.

I am not sure who else to go to out here. We don't have a lot of other options except Guitar Center.

I called Guitar Center and they would charge $50 for a synthetic nut and $80 for a bone nut. The pickup switch needs to be changed out and that would cost $30.

I could get everything fixed for $80 or $50 for the nut and swap out the pickup switch myself for $10.

Since I have to setup the guitar anyway, I might do the $60 option.

I found a "new" guitar repair store near my daughters new school. I dropped off the Super-sonic to get a new nut.

I bought a new pickup switch to replace the old one with the broken tip. I might have her up and going by next weekend.

I noticed the saddles are pretty rusted and then. Should I replace them or are they pretty good?

I like the reverse Jaguar plate. If I settle on cream, I will get the matching parts of course.
