It seems like you would hit that new switch when you are strumming (assuming it's real)
It's still a lot further forward than on a Jazzmaster. Guess it would depend on your strumming style but I don't think I'd hit it very often, if at all. Weird thing to move though.

Haha. Yeah, could see a repeat of the PS VI, VM VI situation.

You would think Fender would do the proper reissues and Squier would do the modified versions. It's funny really.

... what is not to like? It's a picture of a semi, doesn't even show the fender headstock!?
well, i think i was talking more about the antigua atrocity... but yeah, in general i think it's a crap design. the squatty onion look just doesn't do it for me. 335 or die. i think Fender (and everyone else) puts out a lot of really dumb shit, and i'm not about to fawn over it just because they made it. if someone else (you, obviously?) digs it, good for them. i could not own one myself, as it offends my eyes.
it actually does look halfway decent in that first pic though. it's classy at least.

Not usually that abrupt with my responses. Was pretty drunk like. I tend to agree about the antiqua being shit. Not a fan. I've always liked the look of Coronados, and I think this looks pretty nice. There's a colour picture of it on the other reissue thread which looks great. Nice colour n stuff. No idea how they play though. Not sure why you think it's so dumb a basic design? I tend to hate pretty much all Gibsons, again not sure why, they just seem up themselves with no sense of fun or some such. Also they have persisted in using a fundamentally flawed neck construction that will break at some point if used enough. Seems stupid and cheap to me. My friend started doing repairs professionally a couple of years ago and 9 out of 10 major repairs he does are to Gibson headstocks..... Bla bla bla... I'm sure this argument has been had over and over.
You're wrong is what I'm trying to say, but big hugs and peace this time. x

while i think antigua is terrible, the coronados and starcasters are definitely best suited and can look very handsome in it.

I think this anomaly comes from Fender tooling new stuff/using US or Japan bits on MIMs to reissue a guitar, while Squier just gets a bunch of leftovas from knock-off factories (the Squier Mustangs and Jags/JMs use AV spec pickguards but also those offbrand, lock-less tailpieces that AllParts sold back in the '90s, Duncan Designed pickups, etc... bits culled from wherever they can be most cheaply sourced)
So Fender are like "we can rebuild him. better. faster. we have the technology"
While Squier are getting phone calls like "ok Apollo 13: you'll need to round up a roll of duct tape, the snooze button from your alarm clock and some ordinary household nail files..."
