I noticed the low E String kept popping off the saddle. Upon further inspection, I concluded that I put the bridge on backwards. I thought the screw were towards the bridge and they are in fact supposed to be towards the neck.

Love the guitar!
I was sort of thinking that for a minute before I decided to trade, but I love this compstang and it sounds and plays just as wonderfully as the Mascis did, so I feel really good about it. The Mascis reminded me of a sketchy time and a bad relationship, so that's another reason I let her go. I don't think there is too much of a price gap anyhow. The Mascis was only 899 new when I bought it in late 07/ early 08. It was good to me and I gigged her to the moon and back, so now it's time for her to go to a new owner who will appreciate it just as much.
Too bad UPS are incompetent and charged TNutt 80 bucks. Bastards. So much for shipping as a gift. I even told them he was my relative!
Anyhow, yea the blue star was Mascis at a gig in Winnipeg (Pyramid Caberet). I brought my neck and asked him to sign it. He said "well my name's there already, so I'll just draw something?" I said "sure, of course" and he drew the blue star. I have a photo with me and him standing with the neck. I'll scan it when I locate it. It's an analog photo. It could be on the other side of the island at my parent's house. I'll eventually get it scanned and sent to TNutt, as well as posted here.
Just had a baby girl (Penelope Sierra-Anne --6ibs 14 oz), so I'm a tad busy the last few days, to say the least.. and really underslept. LOL.

I am very thankful for the trade and I am glade you like the Compstang. It was a hard guitar to part with. The Jazzmaster is just awesome especially since I turned the bridge the right direction.

These guitars are one of my favorites! Congrats dude! I played one months before they were released when a Fender rep came by the shop I worked at, I seriously am still holding out on getting one and it's been 6 years.
I had several near misses and I am happy to finally have landed it. I feel like it really rounds out my guitar collection and fills that tone gap I was missing.

I definitely think I am going to swap out the white knobs, pickup switch tip and pickup covers for black ones.
I know All Parts sells them. I will either use Jaguar knobs or some of the Randall F Knob copies. I am not a fan of Strat knobs.
Here is the Sonic Youth one. I plan to leave both tone knobs on mine.

Yeah there really is something about that particular model, it's just all around fantastic. Not being a fan of trem; the radius mismatch from 7.25" to 12" I really liked, which may seem weird but being a bit sloppier with my strumming the added space helps but 12" radius necks are too flat and awkward for me. All said this is definitely my favorite non short scale guitar.

Are you implying the guitar is a compound radius? I might not have read your post correctly. The radius is 7.25" all the way down the neck.

Sorry meant 12" radius at the bridge since it's got a TOM, like with the Cobain Mustangs. I like having the extra space between the strings since when I'm sloppy with my picking.
