If you want new for under $300 it's tough. The Fender Pawnshop series, maybe a Vox AC4. The Epiphone Valve JRs are cool for pedals but that's just a head.
Shit, dude check out some good solid states. I have an Orange Crush 35 to pound around on and it sounds better than any cheap tube amp. The built in reverb makes it sound pretty tube. Try one and see.

Those aren't gigable without micing them, and his budget is under $400, not $300.

What would be better for me if I like good non-metalish dirt with lots of mids and for it to be able to take pedals well. I also like my cleans bluesy. This musicmaster or the peavey valveking that I started a thread on?

Define "I also like me cleans to sounds bluesy" This could be taken a million different ways.

Well, I dont like my cleans super clean. I like playing them on the neck pickup most of the time and like that neck pickup sound. Im not explaining well, sorry.
