What noise? The neck pickup on mine is quiet. Add some shielding. Hotrails and 1meg pots can solve it. I might go to 1 megs to brighten up the humbucker.

Guys thanks so much for the recommendations! First I would like to try a more vintage sounding pickup. I might end up going with the Area 67. If i don't like the vintage sound on the guitar, I'll try some of the Lace or Rails suggestions. So far I have decided to keep the 250K pots. If the sound is still too dull, I might try 500K down the road.

Once I have the pickups installed, I'll let you guys know how they sound with the JB. It might be a few weeks or a month until I get to doing this though. I'm a 6th grade teacher and we are having state exams soon.

cheers!

before spend money try check the ground thing if everything grounded well.

i saw once picture of mustang kc was Ground Paint , but it´s use Cooper foil too ?

mean try add Cooper foil on pickguard maybe be less expensive than pickup.

You can see if you like the sound.

I might be the first and only person to ever say this, but I despise the JB Junior in my Mustang. It's way to muffled sounding to me, even with 500k pots.

Me too on both counts. Had JB Jrs in my old Mustang and didn't like them, and I just swapped out the full size JB in my KC Mustang for a BKP VHII which is beautifully clear. The JBs just sound muddy to me.

Did you change out the vol or tone pot at the same time?

No I didn't, but mostly through laziness. I chose the VHII as it's reputedly one of the clearest and most single coil like HBs in terms of response.
It sounds great, but I will probably change the pots at some point. After all, if it's too bright, then just turn the tone pot down.

The split mode with the jb and the single coil sounds super!
No need to change the potentimeters. I like the way it is.

Yeah, I agree that that sounds really nice. Just want a bit of bridge pickup bite. I want to use it in the band, but it's just too dark I think. Sounds great with distortion though, no arguments there.

do as me. with clean split it with the single coil and the distortion sound just use the humbucker. the dark sound might help to just to take all the bass down and put middle to half and treble two nine or ten. the more guitars you have the more you have to adjust the amp settings and even your pedal settings. thats the beginners mistake!

but go ahead put 1 meg pot on both the vol and tone.

some players dont like 250 pot with humbuckers. they sound dark to some ears. put 500 pot and finally 1 meg pot.

what kind of amp do you use?

70's Vibrolux Reverb, so it's most definitely a sparkly amp. Ear splitting with the Jag if I don't tame it with the tone, which makes the muddiness of the JB all the more unacceptable.

I agree on using both pups for cleans, and the bridge for dirt, but it's tricky/impossible to switch mid song.

Love the sound of the JB Jr with 1megs in my Jag, plenty of top end... might leave you fucked sorting a neck pickup though? Would probably allow you to use more similar amp settings to the Jag too, just going all buckery. I was thinking of bumping the Jag-Stang up to those so I'll report back on how that goes if it happens soon.

the duckbucker is actually made to play with the JB JR.

SD makes its own pre-wired strat pickguards with JB jr's and Duckbuckers in them to sell

its called the "everything axe" pickguard
