I took the other post completely off while I was trying to loosen it with my wrench.

The stone white isn't looking very creme, so I am going to buy a can of Wimbledon White. It is more yellow then I was shooting for, but should be better contrast to the white.

This is after two cans of Stone White over the Arctic White.

Had a change of heart and decided not to use a different white. Instead I am going to try a trick where you wipe on a light layer of oak stain on it. The yellow color of the stain should make the guitar look more aged and I can sand it off in areas I want it brighter. Also it gives the paint a kind of dirty look that older finishes get. (Or so I'm told.)

Once the body stops offing gas, I will apply it. Should be interesting! Here it is without the tape in the guts.

First round of the stain. I am liking it so far. Going to do another coat tomorrow to make it a bit darker. (With reference picture to see good spots to be a bit heavier with the stain.)

Font has stain now. I am going to let it dry for a few days and then I will put on some tru-oil to give me a surface to wetsand without removing all the stain. It is looking great. I think it will be awesome when I finish it up.

Very thin finish. It already chipped off in a couple spots. I like it because I am going for the old look and that works.

Not glossy smooth or flat. I wasn't aiming for that. I wanted a more rough and weathered look.

The white actually does look good with the pearl. I'm just a sucker for the old white ones with red tort.

That is definitely the normal look for the white ones, but I am a fan of white. it would look good with tort also, but I want to use the stock guard.

Was sent the wrong tremolo. Here is a picture in the mean time.

Supposed to be a 65 reissue tremolo with the PAT PENDING under Fender like my stock tremolo has. I contacted the seller since the one pictured in the listing showed PAT PEND.

Kind of awesome news. I was tapping on the post trying to get it lose on the stock plate and the post broke off. This let me take the stock plate, and attach the new tube, posts, and springs to it. I tried to get the old springs on to the new posts, but they were too much of a pain in the ass. I kept them though as well as the broken pieces. Fun fact. The set screw from the stock one fit just fine in my Japanese tube.

Only down side was when I was removing the old springs from the stock posts, my screwdriver slipped and stabbed my right ring finger right by the nail. Hurts like a bitch. LOL

Mustang vibratos are the worse to work on. It is the hardest thing to get those springs off. Especially on the new squier ones. They have them so tightly closed they can't even be adjusted. Glad you got the old one to work. More original the better! By the way, I might be interested in that JB Jr. If you ever wanna part with it.

What I do is use needle-nose pliers and pull on the crescent to unhook it. Not that easy but not that hard to remove either.

I got hurt trying to remove the springs from the posts on the vintage one. It wraps all the way around the post. I have no idea how they were even able to be adjusted. LOL Wrapped tight.

Just need strings. I am pretty happy with how it looks. The lighter wear areas are super subtle. I will try to get pictures in daylight. Maybe it will make it easier to see. It all went back together just fine. I think the white looks great! I can't wait to hear how it sounds.

I decided to hit it with some darker stain and I am digging it. nice thing is it will be lighter white under all the parts this way. The areas I sanded to more white look like lighter blotches. I dig it. When it dries more, I will hit some smaller spots in those blotches to get the bright white in some small parts.
