At around $500-600 US, the SEs are hardly expensive brand new. Used, the older SEs can be had for half that. BUT they are expensive when you consider that used S2s, which are USA made, but slotted in between the SEs and the standard models, go for < $1000 used.
The bird inlays on the SEs are cheap plastic though. I wish they would've stuck with the moon inlays. Hardware is nothing special, either.

I was going to say the same thing.
The SE models are like an Opel/Vauxhall Insignia VXR than a BMW. They're nice. Fun. But they'll plummet in value and you just won't want it a few years from now.

I like greenburst, funny thing is in the 1960s and 1970s it was only available on cheap guitars.

Talk me out of it, cause I'm seriously considering it...
its too expensive for what it is, and no one will ever take you seriously if you play that thing live-- if you have PRS cash lying around buy a nice amp
Debz1, you may buy THIS, at least you wouldn't spend too much money

This. Buy it, record some cool tunes on it, wait for the reverse-snobs to ask, "that sounds good. What guitar is it?" and watch their reaction.

I'm going to tell you something I've only ever told my chiropractor when he says I need to clear some Epiphones out and get a bed: buying the affordable import version of a guitar design you're in love with is not silly.

This is what I think of when I think PRS, and reason I haven't bought it as my prejudice is preventing me from doing it.
