A Riviera is too expensive, I saw people sell them for 650-800€ here in Italy. Yeah, this. I always though the point was to take notes on how to not sound like Oasis.

Bonehead stuck all his guitars in Johnny Roadhouse when he left for some quick cash. I stared at the Rickenbackers long and hard. He had a 12 string with this device that would hook onto the extra strings and move them out of the way so it could be a six string. It was fucking bollocks. The whole lot was a bit shit, to be honest. Shame the egos pushed him out in the end, though.

If I wanted their sound so bad, I'd buy either MIJ Sheraton/Riviera, either latest MIC reissue of Sheraton with Gibson mini humbuckers

A Dot or LP will do it, the rest is Amp settings.

I played in an Oasis tribute band for a few months, used a Korean Epi Dot and it was spot on. The other guitarist playing Noels lines used an old Tokai Les Paul.

Folks on the right track.

Vintage-style reissue Riviera w/ Minihums as posted above, Dot/Sheraton, or something like Bonehead's Riviera equipped with bright, vintage wound humbuckies. You'll be in business in no time.

If I had the money, I could buy this one for one simple reasons: the shipping cost is not so expensive if you buy it from Thomann. Anyway, Epiphone LP Standard or Dot, Vintage Icon and Harley Benton are the way now.

If I remember right my Mids and Treble settings were higher than usual on my Amp as well.

A Sheraton or similar will get you close. That one with the mini humbuckers and compensated tailpiece looks great.

However, please consider listening to a less shit band. Oasis and their ilk put me off guitar music for years and Liam Gallagher is a grade A cunt.

You cant really say they are shit though can you?
I mean you might not like them and thats all cool but the millions upon millions of album sales and sell out concerts etc kinda suggests a lot of people thought they were good.

Of course I can, it's my opinion. Take That are shit as well, and they've sold millions of records too. There is no accounting for taste.

I'm not going to judge people for the bands they like, but I still think Oasis would make a shit pub band, let alone our best hope in the 90s, and they were massively disappointing after the music that came before them.

I would love to see this for the unintentional comedy. But I could see how that would be maddening.

The same thing happened with the Strokes though, didn't it? Seemingly every sodding week during the early to mid 2000s, a NY-style 'garage rock' Strokes soundalike band with lazy vocals (with a different accent this time), bed hair, a name that worked on the "The [something]s" formula and in-one-ear-and-out-the-other riffs were championed by NME as the Next Big Thing. The press always latches on to whatever happens to be big at the time, and that's what happened with Oasis in the 90s. There was nothing wrong with one band sounding like Oasis; there's a lot wrong with a dozen bands trying to sound like them.

It is curious from a non-uk perspective. Really we only got oasis and a bit of pulp from the Brit pop era, blur couldn't really get a big impact until song 2, so we never had the "overplayed" factor (except wonder wall).

For the Brits, outside of the overplayed stuff, what are your opinions on the b-side stuff or Noel's solo work? Even outside of traditional oasis sounding stuff, I think he is a great songwriter, and out together some really interesting stuff like "importance of being idle" or "the death of you and me"
