It costs a lot to get them built by the custom shop I suppose.

Silly. My all-original '65 had been refinished when I bought it, in correct Dakota Red, just because the original Dakota Red was dinged and scratched. I offered the asking price of $985 and the seller said he'd expected me to counter-offer, so he asked for $895... :D

Gotta admit, my taste is for the aged white pup-covers on the yellowed MOT guard, so I removed the black and replaced em (originals in the case, of course). Plays and sounds great but man that neck's smallish and the fretting gets a bit tight up at the body...I wonder if the RI neck width or spacing is more generous...guess the scale would be the same, though, eh?
