If you can find one - try the Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster. I had a play of one a couple of weeks ago and it was GREAT. Beautiful guitar, great pickups. I loved it.

Surprisingly the best signature Jazzmaster in my book... always hated fighting Bowser's kids in Mario 3 and the cosmetics of the guitar are not really up my street, but it played and sounded better than any other factory JM I've picked up in a shop in recent memory.

I tried it out on a Fender amp and it was great- on the overdrive channel it snarled and on the clean channel it was full and jangly. If I had the money I'd have bought it on the spot.

I always thought the orginal J Mascis Jazzmaster (CIJ) was one of the best Jazzmasters out there. I currently have one and it's a great guitar if you can still find them.

Are there any pictures of the TVL with different color pickguards. I thought the Mascis looked way better with the PG changed.

The TVL guitar is way out of my guitar price range, never paid more than £500 for a guitar and don't intend to break that barrier.

You'll be glad to know your AWESOME hasn't killed the thread, as buy the time I paid for the guitar, the import duty, and a new Strat neck the over all price would be AWESOMELY high...

Didn't Fender basically kill this GFS stuff with their Squier line of offsets.

the only squier jazzmaster i would consider buying over a GFS one/with fender neck on it I have laying round is the white JMJM. and then i gotta go change the pickguard so its not white gold is white gold master.

the problem with the JMJM is that i have played A/B it with the squier tele deluxespecialstandard one.
it has the exact same neck on it. but it sounds better to me, plays easier to me, and other stuff i cant remember that is better to me.
im weird. I have have had so many of these guitars by now that the guitar part of the guitar doesn't mean shit to me anymore, its the neck. the neck is the most important thing to me. if the neck on the guitar sucks fuck it.
so the JMJM and the teledeluxespecialstandard thing have the same neck. so its down to the guitar part of the guitar and i like the tele better.

so to me it in order it would go:

1 squier deluxespecialstandard thing
2 gfs jazzmaster with a neck on it that I got laying around that im already used to. (in my case a MIM strat neck robOG refinished for me in heavy gloss tint that i gave him 100 bucks for to finish)
3 fuck all the other squier jazzmasters at this point because i would just want the tele with the same neck
