Nothing earth shattering from what I can see although I wonder what an "American Shortboard Mustang" is?
Also, doesn't include those HH Jazzmasters so might not be complete.

What's a " Shortboard Mustang"?

Why do those basses exist? Was anybody asking for an alternative to the jazz and p bass? If you want a musicman you're never gonna be happy with a fender knockoffBearBoy wrote:They're really pushing those Dimension basses. There are 11 different models on their website now (not including colour variations).

Because there's only like a million fucking guitars and only like 7 different basses.
My guess is that Fender saw a hole in the market for people who are loyal to the Fender brand but also want a bass with more modern features that wasn't designed over 60 years ago.
Not to mention it's a natural evolution of the Fender Urge bass which was discontinued in 2010.

P Bass or nothing.
Rickenbacker basses are also good, but really, as far as I'm concerned the Precision Bass is THE BASS GUITAR, everything else is basically an unnecessary copy of one sort or another.
"Modern features" is the kind of thing that piques my interest in relation to guitars, things like chunky chrome saddles, automatic tuning systems, push-pull coil taps and so on. All fairly unnecessary but sometimes nice to have. But the term "modern features" used in relation to bass guitars makes my skin shrivel and my penis retract. It conjures up images of active electronics, recessed controls, those horrible Warwick-style melted candle-like bodies and extra strings. Fuck that.

yeah unfortunately I spend most of the time playing my jazz bass trying to make it sound more like a P-- however, those musicman basses with onboard EQ and preamp are fantastic-- and I think that's what fender were trying to copy-- but I don't think anybody wants a squier copy of a fender copy of a stingray or whatever. they've been out for 2 years and I have never seen anybody play one ![RAWK ((rawk))](./images/smilies/rockin.gif)
