I'm not sure about the runs, but the Chinese ones are usually heavier, I picked one up in a shop and it was silly heavy, the Indonesian ones tend to be more average weight. But better try it out, you might find a Chinese one that's not too heavy.

+1 it's worth finding a Baja. The neck is lush, pickups are great and the extra switching options are icing on the blackguard tele cake

I'd be in line for the Baja in Vegas gold if it weren't for the V-neck profile.

I tried both of these out on Wunjo on Saturday. Both were really nice, but I think I preferred the Classic Vibe - it had a neck profile that I preferred and as it will be a 2nd guitar I liked the price better, they offered it to me for £309 with a gig bag, strings and set ups for a year. If they'd had a white one I would have walked out of there with it, they were telling me all kinds of nonsense to try and get me to buy a butterscotch one though - which I resisted.

BTW having recently taken apart my Squier Mustang before I got rid of it I would say that under the hood the cheapness does show. The wood is VERY soft and the join of the body was really bad (it actually had a little gap right down the middle of the neck pocket).

Probably fine for a 2nd guitar but I don't see them as being instruments that will last.

absolutely

bear in mind that the VM range is miles behind the CV range. i've had both open under the hood and can confirm the VM mustang is quite poor workmanship while the CVs are top notch, better than any MIM fender

yeah the CV Strat I have is an amazing piece of kit. They're becoming more common in the second hand market now which is great cos I've been contemplating one of the double bound sunburst ones but I really don't need another Tele...

dave's dad now has my old cv tele custom. stunning guitar in terms of craftsmanship and playability. pickups were a little underwhelming though so id factor in a new set. otherwise its golden

So a Butterscotch Blonde 50's Classic Vibe in as new condition showed up on ebay last night for £190 not far away from me so I snapped it up, i'll be picking it up sometime this weekend. I really wanted the blonde version, but I figured it's worth going for it for this price and i'll probably replace at least the bridge pickup for a Dimarzio Pre B-1.

I heard better shit about the blonde one cause of the pickups but I own the butterscotch one and got nothing bad to say about it. Love the neck, thought the pickups were too sharp but a change of amp actually took care of any issues I was having (seriously fuck the hot rod deluxes)

Not sure I agree with that at all from my experience with my VM Jaguar

The butterscotch has hotter pickups. The blonde is more subdued and is supposed to be closer to the sound of the original Telecaster.

Ah okay. The blonde one was really fucking heavy too. Even though I think they were both made of pine.

baja is an amazing guitar

So I picked up my new BSB CV Tele and it's very nice, not sure about the colour though as it does look a bit like a Werthers Original. Need to put some 11's on it and i'm going to change the bridge pickup, the neck pickup sounds really nice though. The neck itself is lovely, reminds me of the neck on my old CIJ Jazzmaster.
