Seriously though, I had a Steve Vai pickup in one Jag and it sounded like I had a weird EHX reverb/delay pedal on. I had to Palm mute everything I played until the penny dropped.

Neck is from an old sunn mustang. Plays awesome. Body is a squier strat.

Yeah, it’s also a satin finish. I wasn’t sure on it at first but it grew on me.

It needs a refret. It's playable but about gone.

Not had the money to get it done and a bit nervous about it as well. The rosewood is thin. Thomas messaged me about it saying his luthier said it shouldn't be a problem, which sounds promising.

I'll get it done but other priorities at the moment like fixing the gutter, the dripping bath taps and sending funds to the National Front. Life's great in your late 40's Rob

I broke the nut on this one the other week putting stupid manland strings on it.

Looking at replacements and saw this Yngwie Lolz

Brass nuts brighten the tone. Gordon Smith use them as standard, which works with the mahogany mass most of their guitars are.
Dunno about on a Jag though. I'd probably go bone, that might upset a few on here though

Fuck manland strings, it's all nonsense. It's not 1953 anymore, we use processing, amplification and don't want carpal tunnel.

Yeah Iommi used the jerry-rigged equivalent of .008s downtuned, on account of his accident. Clapton and Page were using a .009 string as a high E but it was disproportionately lighter than the rest of their string set, and they didn’t tune down.

Billy Gibbons .007s are the only ones sold for guitar AFAIK. He says he was using really heavy strings “for fat tone� and BB King played his guitar and said “you’re making yourself work too hard.� A fan of BB’s tone (there’s few fatter in that line of work), he decided the whole heavy string thing was bullshit. But BB played .010s, I don’t know anyone who’s gone as light as Gibbons.
