Yeah you are another ?5 still for the screw drivers and another ?5 is you don't already have a multimeter. Admittedly it isn't the best soldering iron but you would be another ?10-15. It's a good deal all round.

I like my swappable tips and smaller factor of my Antex iron. But the 30W has been useful.

Face it, the soldering iron in a 10 quid box of tools ain't gonna hold a candle to that.

The one my dad has is a huge gun with a trigger that turns up the HEAT and turns on a little flashlight so you can see where you're soldering. It's awesome.

I get much better tone with my simple soldering iron. All that heat adjustable non PTP wired, chassis mounted tube socket soldering iron technology makes guitars sound thin and lifeless to me.

So I'd been having trouble with the new circuit... the footswitch was crapping and after all my rewiring work (taking out guts and putting new "flying leads" from the 2 points on the PCB), it turns out my main problem was the crappy pots I was using! DAMN YOU MAPLIN!
The only decent pots I had lying about were in the discarded Jazzmaster rhythm circuit, so I plonked the 500k ohm tone pot in place of the stock 47ohm resistor! Of course, the dial only really has an effect in the last 10% of the rotation, but it's good enough for me.
Either way, it sounds great, works perfectly and I got to stack the 2 roller dials on the shaft to act as a dial for added mojo:
