I'm still thinking of the 60s and 70s fuzzes like the Fuzz Face, BMP and Maestro fuzzes. They are all distinct tones that is something completely different from overdrive and crunchy distortion.

I had a
voodoo lab superfuzz for a while, and it was quite a nice sounding pedal, really smooth and not too distorted, I got rid of it in the end for a Big Muff because I wanted something a bit more manic...
The're really well put together and sturdy compared to the rickety tin boxes that EHX call pedals...
