wow the sunburst makes it a lot better. Doesn't make the jaguar any better though, the tort looks AWFUL:

To me this is just so divorced from a Jag it's daft to call it a jaguar. Plates are pretty much what defines the jag aesthetic to me.

I think that 'Jag' looks pretty good, but then I like tort pickguards with sunburst bodies, but then I also like tort pickguards with CAR bodies too.

I wonder how close the body shapes are. The Squier site lists the body style as 'jaguar' and 'jazzmaster', but then you'd expect it to. In the stock image pictures the jaguar horn looks noticeably longer so I think it's quite likely they are accurate. It doesn't matter much of course but I'm sure most people expected the two bodies to be the same as each other.

they could have done a much better job of this. apart from the body shape there isnt much of a jaguar in that jag.
still, would buy the jazzmaster if they dont end up being too expensive, i need a new beater.

Is 9.5 radius bad? I've never really taken much notice of board radius before. Is 9.5 quite flat? In comparison to a proper Jag radius? What would that be? The board on my Jag is quite curved, I'm not used to it. Doesn't make much difference to me, though.

Normal Jag is a more curvy 7.25", it's the classic Vintage 60s radius.

Well, each to his own. I love 9.5 over 7.25, vintage charm or not. I find soloing in the higher registers a lot easier as well as getting round the neck generally.

I quite like the 7.5 on my Jag... but I also don't solo or anything. I know flatter radii are preferred by soloists. 9.5" is fine, really.

To me what makes a jag a jag is the scale and body shape.
Although certain things like inputs and bridges/tailpieces make variants easier to swallow
