Inspired by plectrum thread - Pedals with Emoticon graphics on.

Cool/Not Cool?

Shit yeah, why not.
*fuuuuuuu*
This on a pedal would be nuts. The neighbours go "FUUUUUUU" when I stomp this.

Yo Miiiiikey- I've been mulling on a "The Beard"- inspired pedal, wondering how much it'd run me?

-Saltboost-sized box, no finish or owt, any LEDs or knobs you've got kicking about that aren't much use.
-Very hard square wave tremolo, proper 'on/off' stuff.
-Dial for rate on the box, volume "ratio" ala the Saltshaker as internet trim pots. Failing that, I guess a slightly bigger case and all 3 dials on the box.
-Momentary footswitch
-Rate to get very very fast, to go way into ring mod territory like the Pulsar.

Feasible?

OK, well with this trem design the board is pretty big, there is a CHANCE I could fit it into a Saltbooster sized case lengthways if I moved the DC input to the pedal down to on the left side of the pedal by the footswitch, and had the LED the other side. As regards the trim for volume, there is already one built into the design, and another for ratio shouldn't be too hard to add. What I'll do is build up a board and see how big it is and go from there.

Getting the rate fast might need some experimentation and I'm not sure I can get ring moddy though because the Trem is an optical trem - an LED flashes and an LDR picks up the flashing, so really fast might fail because the LDR might not cope, I will see what happens.

Before you say anything it's no skin off my nose to build a tremolo board up as someone will buy one at some point even if you don't. So I'll build it up and do some design work afterwards on the hardwiring of some of the controls to their various states and stuff and then get back to you about how it's looking. If it needs to be in a larger case I would be able to do it portrait or landscape I reckon, it would be up to you.

I can't see it running more than £70 and it'll be a fun project. Leave it with me and I'll do some building and fiddling.

Okay mate, cheers! It probably wouldn't be for a good few months yet anyway but if you can sell the board if need be, that's cool.

Yeah I'll build it and have a play, it's half the fun to be honest.

Unbelievably Mike, I finally got round to packaging up my Blackstar footswitch!
Is sitting on the stairs, addressed and everything.
Will send tomorrow and drop you some coin for P&P and parts.
Absolutely no rush to get it back! Cheers.

Hey Mike...do I remember correctly when ya said you wouldn't make any DLS's? Or am I fucked in the noodle?

Nah I changed my mind and will build them for folks if they're interested. £70 + P&P as it goes, great pedal.

Right-on, what's that in USD?

£70 + £5 = £75

http://www.xe.com/

= $122 so you might just want to order from Catalinbread as they sell them for $159 I believe + shipping

Mine took 3 weeks or so to get to the UK. Their site suggests 2 weeks US I think.

They'll be quick. DLS's are only really cost effective for the Euro crew I think

Hey Mike, my roomate has been talking about how the MXR Distortion Plus was one of the best out there....you heard of this lore or ever built anything with a similar circut?
