Shit, I'm pricing CNC machines, but have a few other things to take care of first. Actually, just buying a house is the key thing, CNC is the next major purchase after that (which is why I bought an old cheap truck for work). Unless you're interested in buying a lot of 100 at $40 a piece...

huh? $40 bucks apiece? Oh, hell yea!

I'm pretty sure we could scratch up $4000...who will be making them? You?

I would, my intention is to do just that, but I just don't have the space (hence the bigger house deal). I figure I can get decent blanks for $12-15 from the Amish folk down by my dad, and rosewood fret blanks for about $10 or so. That being said, I figured 100% markup on my materials to compensate for machinery investment, cad time, my labor, would bring me in the $40 range, which is a good supplier price.

Unfortunately, I'm not there yet. Shit Aug, think of 100 neck purchase would mean for you... a potential of $70-80k in sales. After your expenses, and split with dave, that's still $25-30k each (*ahem* before the um... tax man... :) ). My estimations from what I've been reading is that 100 necks would be about 80 hours, or two weeks (or on my time, two weekends sleeping on the workbench). Btw, that's un fretted (although, I bet the CNC would manage that too with the right mandrills.

Oh yeah, what was the repair book you reccomended?

what would you charge for complete necks with no finish/paint/tuners? (frets, no nuts, rosewood and maple)

I'm not sure, I haven't done a full on fret job yet, so I don't have any guidelines for my time investment vs. quality output. The more I can eliminate duplication of effort, the lower I'd be willing to go, but even RobertOG was pretty straight, there's not alot of shortcuts to be had. I'd base it on material and a multiplier. I mean fret wire's real cheap, but there is alot of work involved.

By the time you are established, I'll be getting started up and more than willing to undercut who ever you have a relationship with, no need to worry about that. :)

What's with the apparently lack of bridge in all your templates? Are you still going with the TOM?
