A MBM pedal is looking so tempting lately, you have some top notch work, and classy looking pedals.

What colour is that on the Echo Base? Kingfisher blue metallic or something? It looks great.

I just started off with everything at 12 o'clock and it was quite quiet, so I turned the volume and the fuzz up to aboot 4 o'clock. I like it like that, it's got a gainy sort of nice clarity but if you hit the strings it's gets really quite fuzzy, it's kewl.

Don't laugh, but I was playing Stairway to Heaven on it and it was perfect for the soft and ROCK dynamics.

Yeah you really need to dime the Fuzz and control gain using your guitar volume or the Bias knob in my opinion.

I also have a fuzz question. How would the sound of your Fuzzface compare to your Green Big Muff or a regular Big Muff? I have a New York Big Muff and it just seems like too much distortion and not enough good dirt. If I get a fuzz, I want one that can add more dirt and can dial it back if necessary. The NYC Big muff is just loud and no mids.

Fuzz Face circuits are very different than a Big Muff. You can leave them wide open and do all of the gain control through your guitars volume knob. The big muffs gain knob doesn't do much as you turn through it's gain sweep, and neither does a FF (except get splatty). They sound best wide open and tend to have plenty of mids unlike a big muff. They are, however, very particular with different guitars, pickups, and amps. Even with pedals before it in the chain. All in all I think I FF based circuit is great in a live situation because you don't dissapear from he mix like a BMP will tend to do. I use mine for nearly all my lead work and most of my rythm sound i just dile back my guitar volume a tad. It's a great circuit and that's why it's been around for 50 some-odd years. Mike offers a very versatile one at a great price point.

Would a Box Of Mike (minus boost function) fit in one of your standard-sized cases, portrait-orientated with the jacks and power at the top?



I've found the main "drive" section on my Box Of Bass Mike to be a great Nobels ODR-rivalling solo boost.

You mean a case the same size as the Box Of Bass Mike but just portrait or Saltbooster case?

It can definitely be fitted in the BoM case portrait with all the gubbins on the top, but a Saltbooster case doesn't have room for two jacks and a DC jack on the top...

Yeah, same as my BOBM just portrait. That's cool, especially as it appears my Nobels has just bitten the dust AGAIN

I think it'd work sweet as a standalone cheers mate, it works pretty awesome using the BOBM too, but it's just a bit too wide and it leaves me with 3 double-footswitch boxes side by side, which is a liiil hectic. I'm almost tempted to get you to downgrade and rehouse my BOBM to save on cash, but we'll see.

I'd be cool if you could have a peek at the Nobels, I've no idea what's up with it- I resoldered all the jacks and power supply like before, but it's just stone cold dead, not even an intermittent sign of life.

OK, I'll get it on the dining room table/workbench and have a look at it. If you can't wait 2 weeks, mail it up to me.
