added a led. It's an easy mod! I love the pedal, but the switch is really bad, and before having the led it was impossible to play with in a band scenario. I'm actually saving some money to have mike make me a copy with an extra footswitch for the octave

is the tuner your split point? Or the dd-3?

think you'd be able to cover all bases with thar selection. An ocd is next on my list of pedals to check out.

Got my TS off rhys the other day, missed having one.

yeah, split at the tuner. it means to tune silently i have to engage the little kill switch, but that's no big deal. it's better than having that massive splitter i had before taking up half my board space. i don't really need the EQ on there, but it gives me a bit more flexibility with the single tone control on the MM amp.

i'd forgotten how much of a beast the OCD is on high gain, it's like being kneed in the sack by a rugby player.

which would you say is the heavier high gain pedal, the ocd or the distortion pro?

New Whammy WH-1, using the deep detune (chorus) setting and the Octave setting that brings it down two steps, (two notes down, not the double drop octave)

The stereo input on the DD-6 also sends the signal to a little practice amp set up next to the drums like a moniter. Even with this cheap stereo setup the room sounds huge.

stewart do you still have an NS-2?

how does it work in terms of it's fx loop? do you stick the pedals that are noisy in that loop and anything in that loop is noise suppressed?

nah, i sold it. but yeah, if you've got a noisy pedal you just pop it in the loop and the NS-2 cuts in when you're not playing. the only problem with putting a delay in the loop is the danger of the repeats being prematurely clipped as the gate kicks in. i found it best to set the threshold very low so i could still get feedback when i wanted it, there's also less tone suckage that way. i kind of wish i still had it, but hey-ho.

I took a load of pictures of my Bassman over the weekend for Thom. I figured I'd stick some in here.

Inside it looks a little bit of a mish mash with parts from different eras. The main caps (filter caps?) were changed before I got it to Sprague Atoms, and when it was last serviced a few inside were changed to Spraque Orange Drops and some to Siver Micas. There are a few different types of resistor there now, too. For example next to the blue atoms you can see an original (brown cylindrical) and a replacement (the light blue indented one). Inside there are a few different types depending with the originals still within tolerance remaining and those that were quite far from where they should be replaced. After seeing how much they can change I can definitely understand why these old amps can sound different in supposedly identical models. Now it's pretty much as intended (or at least all of the parts are within +/-10% tolerance of the original circuit) and it really sounds fanatastic. I'm going to miss it like hell.

It's silly but I've been purposely playing it less. The sensible thing would be to play it more and make the most of it but the last time I played it felt like the feeling at the end of what's been quite a good relationship but you both know it has to end. You still love each other, and you can see each other's heart breaking but it's moving on is the only right thing to do. That's pretty much the perfect analogy for how I feel about this amp, though I'm not sure how it feels about me.

thats the cleanest i've seen one. mine looks like it was dragged through the desert and the dipped in salt water. Thats a great looking amp, and the best schematic if you ask me. Not the best for bass.
My 76 is supposedly the more sought after bassman for bass use, i'm not sure which one is worse. That you play bass through the better guitar version or that i play guitar through the better bass version.

I can imagine how it must suck to let it go but these bassman heads pop up plenty in the states and i'm sure you could find one to replace this beauty.

These ones don't. I've seen about four auctions for them (in any country) in two years and only one looked genuine and even then it had no gutshots. most were early 65 AB165 types that had a pre-CBS faceplate.

I love it for bass, but it distorts early and it's only really good for a 60s style sound. It's not that good as a modern bass amp. Well it's nice, but it's not fantastic. It's as a guitar amp that I love it. Easily my favourite guitar amp ever.
