I bought one. I've noticed recently that with my whole board wired up there's some ungodly hum. Don't know whether it's the wiring in this house or what, but when I tried my One Spot plugged into just a single true bypass pedal switched off it was still, and went away when I unplugged it and used the pedal on batteries.

Seriously, I don't know how this happened. I swear two months ago I had a TOD and a tuner.

Now I have a phaser, stacked OD's, Fender Blender AND French Toast, compression, delay, tremolo. What the fuck.

Urgh fucking hell French Toast is amazing. Using it to drive other OD pedals is the best noise ever. I can't make up my mind whether it goes before all drives or inbetween two though.

Last week I picked up a new tuner, a Sonic Research ST-200 Turbo Tuner. I read a lot about it before making the purchase and I'm very happy with it. I know it's just a tuner, but it seems to be a damned good one.



I'd been shopping around for a new tuner for a while and read up on all the popular in-production tuners; the ST-200 wasn't that far off the price mark so I went for it. Prior to this, I used a Boss TU-2 on my board and a Sabine STX-1500 for doing setups and stuff at home.

I always used the Sabine for setting intonation because it has a much better ±1 cent accuracy. Sonic Research claims ±0.02 cent accuracy on this guy, which is obviously much better than the ±3 cent accuracy with the TU-2. I know the human ear can only detect whatever-the-hell-amount-it-is, but there could theoretically be a terrible-sounding, worst-case stackup at some chord position somewhere on the neck that would lead to much greater deviation than the 2-cent intonation window on the Sabine and the 6-cent tune-up window of the TU-2. I always seemed to have intonation issues with my Tele Deluxe reissue, so I sorted that guitar out first and it sounds much better than it did before in positions all over the neck. I can hear everyone's eyes rolling right now, and I really don't know how to explain it other than to say that apparently I am just sensitive to tuning. (insert more eye-rolling)

It's probably not for everyone at $129, but if you're a stupid asshole like I am and begin looking for a new tuner and ask yourself, "The Pitch Black and Polytune are great, but is there a way I can spend just a bit more on some intangible psychoacoustic bullshit?" -- then the ST-200 is for you, my friend.

The Dano Univibe doesn't like to be after the gain pedals; it distorts if it is driven just a tiny bit. But I don't think I want to bump it any further up the chain. It'd probably sound good in an effects loop, when I get an amp with one.

Lately I've been playing through an ART microphone tube preamp (12AX7) into my Macbook Pro, not through the Orange micro amp.

vibes typically go before dirt. not a set in stone rule, just typical placement mind. What monitors/phones are you using from your pre/macbook?

Sorted things out! The tuner on the m13 will probably suffice live, but for recording's sake its best to keep the pitchblack, which remains to be the only pedal to not leave my board since I've had it.
Eau Claire Thunder isn't going anywhere, the Facial Fuzz and Muff modules on the M13 get close, but can't match the time warp or tone bypass sounds the ECT gets, plus feedback
Honeybee clone still stays, the rat/classic distortion on the m13 again, gets close, but not the same.


definitely like that the m13 has switchable dsp and true bypass options. The delays are fantastic. Scenes are awesome and switch flawlessly. totally pleased with it.

The dano univibe clone adds a slight overdriven tone to the sound anyway so this maybe why you are experinecing the problems.

I have some Yamaha studio monitors from the 80s or 90s. They're awesome and I've had them forever. Nothing else in the chain is distorting the signal, err, incorrectly. The fuzzes sound properly fuzzy, the OD is overdriving but not hitting headroom limits, etc. As noted, I have to keep the total gain on the chain low to avoid the ART tube preamp clamping down on distortion.

Maybe as the first thing in the chain, on a 2-loop true bypass switcher, and the wah on the other loop? I could leave the Vibe on all the time then, which eliminates the second or so of silence before it starts when you switch it on, and I'd get a true bypass around my wah with an LED that lets me know when the wah is on (the other idea for the wah was to mod in a DC adapter plug, a 3PDT switch, and an LED so I could tell when it was on, but a looper pedal is easier.)

Welcome aboard! What fender amp are you rocking there? Any dirt besides the fuzz factory?

I mostly play clean. No other dirt besides the Fuzz Factory, however I use the drive knob on the Moog which is a nice sound.
That amp is my solid state Frontman 212 R. I have a small Vibrochamp however because I want a small tube amp for recording.
I need a larger tube amp, perhaps VOX, but it will have to wait until I get some other gear.

Those vibrochamps are great amps, love em.
I'd focus on a amp before other gear unless its absolutely essential.

I'm a recording engineer student so I mainly need some microphones. That's why I'm not saving up for an amp currently.

The only two pedals i've been using at the moment. A Fredric Opamp Muff and a ruetz Rat.

The You Dirty Rat is actually a Rat, it would modded using a Monte Allums kit - it sounds the business.

this is as neat as i can get it at the moment. debating the need for DIY patch cable so it's neater. i have a week off soon, so think i may start on the T board.
