Design-wise, what do you think?

Painting? Routing? Set-up tips? Or just straight-up making a guitar from scratch? Post here, and post pics!

The Mercury will be much different then this guitar when it's done. This thing looks like crap, I think. The mercury is already done in my head and the lines and flow is real smooth (I think).

Roffles, DDDave you're mental.

DDDAVE talked a lot , he got ahead of himself, that's all i was pointing out. That you are new to it. I don't really see where I clowned your guitar in a mean way or said anything bad, so CHILL THE FUCK OUT.

If you're new to the game, take the constructive criticism and start acting like it, you and DDDAVE were dissing an established builder like Koll and his design that is clearly more thought out and realized.

I hope your designs get alot better. the bottom half of that guitar doesn't even flow with the rest of the guitar, it's way too round and the top horns are too sharp.

I shouldn't have even bothered with this thread but people keep sending me links to it, my bad. I won't comment further.

IMPORTANT OBSERVATION - the guitar is actually reverse-offset. I can see now why it looks a little awkward. In your original design, the two contours were just about even, but the upper horn sort of migrated the contour behind the bottom.

I always shot for a reverse offest. It's offest by exactly 1". To compensate and make the lines flow more, I'll have to alter the general shape abit, and I'm currently working on that.

Color #3 was going to be a creamy yellow. We're open to suggestions.

Thanks everyone for the postive input. We're really stooked about the project!

If I were to suggest 3 colours to add to the mix, I'd go for something close to the old favourites of Shell Pink, Daphne Blue or Competition Orange.

Some sort of Orange color should be in order, there aren't enough orange guitars in the world, something like orange sherbert.

It's a prototype, and a good one. A sketch, if you will.

My constructive comments are that the tail end needs a slant to match the horns. I also clipped the horns so that it doesn't look too Fender. I like the reverse offset because it balances better with long horn long tail. I have no idea about how it fits the hip and shoulder--you'd have to play it to see if it feels right. I am mental about margins, so I would like a slightly smaller guard to allow for thicker green edges.

Of course it now looks like a bird eating a worm. Well, it's a thought.
