Rough cut on a spitfire guard, nerve racking to say the least...
And working on this old thing...

Progress of the slowest kind, routs are *just* too shallow so I will have to go in and make some room, but that's a Monday problem

That's going to take some work tweaking

Really? Dont do that. You have a hardtail trem plate on it and you'll be drilling holes in the body. I know it's a rough body but it's still vintage and the mods to it are only under the Pickguard at the moment. Seeing this breaks my heart for selling it haha.

Two steps forward, one step back. Just after this photo went to read her the guard, slipped with the drill and put a small crack in the guard *doh*

That looks brilliant. Like some sort of reverse Performer. Like a Supersonic Performer.

Thanks, I'm planning to build templates off this one if it works out good. Nifty part was I did the initial shaping and cutout using nothing but a pull-saw and a coping saw - all hand power.

My buddy bought a BONAMASSA firebird, and as much as I don’t care for white boy blues, it was an undeniably great guitar. Boredom but the better of me in isolation, and I found one for $599 Canadian from L&M (*maybe* 425 American?) and it is mint. Here it is with my other single pickup epiphone:
As usual, I’m going to end up spending more than the guitars value on parts, but it is a solid platform with a great pickup.
Plastic peg heads to get some weight off the body:
And some new pots (VIP pots 500k for vol, 250k cts for bridge)
New bridge and trem are in the mail, but god knows when things will actually arrive given the mess we are in, wait and see I suppose.

Missed it when you first posted. Looks great! Bonamassa makes Epiphone put a normal C neck in all his signature guitars because he doesn't like their regular skinny necks

That’s one of the reason I bought this, I normally HATE firebird necks
