Etching! Super cool.

You should see what some of the guys on diystompboxes are capable with that stuff.

AWEsome.

I was thinking about trying some etching next time I build something. What's the best way of going about it?

Cheers for the comments dudes.

Etching: I used press-n-peel blue, ironed the design onto the buffed enclosure. Touch-up with humbrol enamel paint. Attempted to etch in sodium persulphate, which doesn't work on aluminium it seems. Use ferric chloride shit instead. Took a good while to etch, but the stuff wasn't too strong. Clean all the press-n-peel and paint off. Lightly spray the top with black primer. Allow to dry. Polish-up with wet-n-dry, removing the primer not in the etched grooves.

More Systech Harmonic Energizer fun. Designed a new board for this using a couple of TL074s. Features: buffered bypass (klon buffers), switchable fuzz circuit (opamp muff fuzz). Trimmer is fuzz volume. I also bought a Behringer FCV100 volume/mod pedal which works perfectly replacing the center frequency control. So when this goes into a box I'll add an expression jack.

THIS LOOKS COOL, HOW DOES IT SOUND?

Like a weird fuzz-wah with bass or treble boost settings. I'ma have to demo this as soon as I can put it in a box. Shame I'm having trouble finding affordabe painters/screenprinters at the moment as I really need to make a batch of these.

Did a layout for some Silicon Fuzzfaces I'm gonna sell on ebay. This took me a while, but I think I'm getting better at it. Only one jumper on this layout!
The J201s are for the bypass buffers, and the 2N5088 is for teh volume boost.

I'll post the PCB once it's verified.

You're so anal about jumpers. Who cares, it's just another component. You insert a bunch more doing bypass in that fancy way, you trollope.

Yeah but that's the layout game! Win points for resistors in a nice row, lose points for using 0R resistors or jumpers :D

I should really get out more.
