Yeah totally, I love the change from Crunch Orange to Red!
Our new band is a fair bit heavier than Sell Crazy, so like you said the Orange/Red OD1 are perfect for that.
Haven't used OD2 much - just doesn't sound as good as OD1 to me. I guess it is that slightly more scooped metal sound.

heavium - they get bashed by the Classic Marshall bridge and the HC Amp forum - dunno why. They hate anything new Marshall does though.

thom - I don't really like OD2 unless you get the gain up in Green mode, it's for the metal thing and you need to dial in a lot of low end with the Resonance to make it sound thicker. I just ignore it, too heavy for my taste.

Yeah I agree. Plenty of options without it!

i use od2 for leads. . . well, when the amp is working. new fuses and checking the tubes yielded nothing. guess ima get me some warranty work done.

ima dropping it off tomorrow at one of only 2 places less than 2 hours away from me. it's warranty work, so i imagine it will be a couple of weeks at least. good thing i have the prosonic for a backup. . . i just didn't think i'd have to employ it so soon.

Sorry to hear that, hope your amp gets well soon.

meh, whattaya gonna do? at least it only fucked out at a party where there was plenty of backup. if the smooth ride down in a van was enough to jar something loose like that, i shudder to think what would've happened had it been on tour. i can't think of anything else that could've gone wrong inside of it. no extreme temperature swings, power spikes, or water exposure. ima remain positive about the thing for this one go 'round since my other marshalls have always been pretty dependable.

This is the first possible "transit" related issue I've heard of but some people are experiencing teething on JVM410.com, however you have to take the amount of bad feedback with a pinch as you can bet 98% of the people that have an issue with the JVM post about it on the net and that probably more like 20% of the people that are happy as larry never post about it at all. There is a huge slice of the guitar playing community that isn't nerds like us.

Mine has had zero issues so far, I'm hoping long way it continue but if not that is what the warranty is for. I believe you get 5 years? We get 3 and the convenience of in my case being 45 min drive from the Marshall Factory in Bletchley where you can drop your amp and and have it serviced/fixed right there and then (while you take a tour should you want to).

oh, true enough. a 5 year warranty is great. too bad the difference in service from outlet to outlet varies so widely. that'd be awesome to take a tour of the factory though!

hilarious, as the only store that is carrying them in ottawa [ontario] cant seem to give them away. hell no one has even tried one but me[and i mostly tried it because no purple marshall could be all that bad]. most of the people that the vintage modern would appeal to seem to have been buying up stock in orange recently [as i am seeing a pile of used marshall heads around at this point, most traded against orange ad140's]

I love Orange also, when I bought the JVM I was secretly tossing up between an AD30HTC or the JVM410H.

Who knows - at some point I might sell my 6100 to buy the Orange head.

Those are words I though I'd never hear from you.

I know. Weird innit. I'm just coming to the realisation that the JVM can "do" what the 6100 does pretty damn well.

Mind you the AD30HTC is just a clean/dirty amp and the 6100 can do that too - so what the fuck am I talking about?

It must be the cough syrup.

I was about to say, if you have the flu you won't be thinking straight. Stay away from Eric Bay.

Haha. Must be!
I'm going to try and run both my Orange and JVM with an AB switch I'll have to borrow a cab - they are so different would be great to have that available as well as the Marshall roar!

Had our first full band practice with the JVM this afternoon.
Fuck me it blew our other guitarist's TSL out of the water!
Think he was quite jealous. I was just very content :D
