In my experience it's best not to cheap out on 3PDT's. I used to use Taiwanese ones (probably the same as that one) until I had a problem - ProgRockAbuse's Box Of Mike started developing an occaisonal hiss when the switch was engaged which was avoidable with a solid stomp when turning on and off, but now is pretty much constant, so I'm replacing the switch for him in it at no cost.

I will also not ever use that brand again. 1 failure in 20 pedals I've made is unacceptable. I ditched using Taiwanese unbranded jacks for Neutrik's rapidly aswell after getting some stereo input ones with the elements inside that would turn when you were tightening the nut and make contact/break the switching element. Pathetic.

I now use Electro-Harmonix's 3PDT's which are 20% more expensive.

Aren't 3PDTs in EHX stuff notoriously iffy after a year or two?

Those transistors are pretty much just bipolars:

2n2222 = npn - ubiquitous fuzz transistor

these can be used as darlington pairs or in switching applications
C9012 = pnp
C9013 = npn

I think these are power transistors?

Not in my experience. Only the recent stuff even has 3PDT's by the way.

Yeah, in all fairness that was the Polychorus which seemed to kill replacement 3PDTs just like the stock one, regardless of their make. I think Spud's NYC Muff has a tantrum every now and then too.

No probs with the Pulsar yet either.

If one of them craps out on me or someone I build a pedal for I'll move to the next brand and replace their pedal and never use EHX again.

until then they're my brand of choice.

I had issues with the 3PDT in my Small Stone - after about a year it developed a loud crackle. I replaced it with a Fulltone switch which seems to work well.

They emailed me today, but I paid with credit card. Paypal can be slower at times.

Go to the site and it says...

Paypal holds the money after you send it and before they can fully receive it. They are cunts.

They never used to do this up until 6 months ago.

I think within a year we'll see some serious competition to ebay. The reaction to increasing fees and increasing taking the piss is enough to spark something new and actually get some people on board. I read that in Australia they changed the ebay rules so that ebay was entirely paypal only. The monopoly commission over-ruled it but they've appealed and are able to carry on for now. I'm not sure how true that is but I see some competitors coming in soon. craigslist made a bit of an impact, but I imagine they'll be something more direct.

I think you're spot on. There needs to be some competition, paypal themselves (owned by ebay) are really taking the piss. Take my money for a week and charge me EXTRA for the priviledge?

Fuck off.

My shit, it has arrived. Looks really great. Resistors are a reasonable tolerance, caps look great and the pots are Alpha split shafts. This place is awesome. Long delivery time but god damn a great place to get resistors, caps and pots from.

By the way, it's from Bangkok, hence the cheapness.

Mine still hasn't been updated as shipped. I have no money to buy enclosures and stuff anyway so no rush. Good news that they're alpha. It might even be worth just putting through a large pot order at some point and stocking up. $0.55 is unbeatable and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of pedal parts companies stocked up in the same way.
