actually i did measure the necks also, and i can confirm that the jag-stang is thinner. i will try to find those pics later next week.

Even though they look the same, I found the 96' a little thinner than the 02'. The 96 feels Mosrite like thin IMO. Very comfy to play, even more so than the already comfy 02'
I just think there are a few inconsistencies. Paint being another one. I think there is a slight difference in shades on the Sonic Blue Jagstang.

It's not the correct term. The correct term would be simply "Vintage" or "1965". AV has never and will never be a term for the initial 60s and 70s guitars Fender produced.

jag-stang necks are not the same as jaguar necks nor mustang necks
i thought they were but i measured the hell out of my 96 jaguar neck and my 96 jag-stang neck and found that they were slightly different but enough to take notes of.
and when i bought tracy her comp blue mustang a few years ago i remember doing a profile of the back and it was slightly "rounder" than my j.s.
i thought that they would all be exactly the same but there is enough of one to say that they are not the same.

im just trying to point out that the fretboards are OBVIOUSLY DIFFERENT. look at how the 65 bows out at the end and the compstang curves in.

your hand wraps around the fretboard too, its part of the neck. therefor if the fretboards are different, the feel of the neck is going to be different too

i compared a 96 j.s. neck and a 96 jaguar neck.
so in theory they should be exactly the same right?
same factory, same year, similer marks on the neck, i don't remember the serial number on the jag but they were the same damn thing.
except....

No. We've known for a while now that Jaguar necks are different. Our interest is in MUSTANG necks.

i know i measured out tracy's compstang neck years ago but that info is long gone and so is the guitar.
