i used one of those on that last satchild record. it's very unremarkable in appearance, but it fit the tone i was going for on the song. never heard (of) it before.

About 2 hours. It's probably a 4-5 hour build in it's entireity including testing.

BTW Mike, do you happen to have the PCB/PERF/SCHM or anything else regarding your hotcake build?

I'd be really interested in building one. Was it an easy build?
I agree that it's hyped beyond hype now so people love it even if they don't really like it. I decided to build one to see what the fuss is about.

freestompboxes.org is an excellent resource. You have to register and be activated to see all the forums, but once you can, there are lots of schematics and knowledgeable people there. I'll also PM you a link to the hotcake layout, it's not a bad build at all if you have soldering skills, but the Zener Diode is a must.
Alright, I'm on there.

What's your username?

Also, where are those Zener Diode's available?

*Sorry to threadjack!

I'm ShortScaleMike. I don't really post much, just finished pedal pictures and the odd questions. And I say "Thank You" a lot.

Zener Diodes can be got from Maplin/Banzai Effects/Musikding if you're in Europe and Small Bear and Angela Electronics and many other places if you're in the states. Just get an 8.2V or 8.7V Zener, whichever is easiest to find.

Thanks man!

I DL'd that file that has everything...

Did you happen to adjust or change anything? I really enjoyed the one I had like 5 years ago. The current economy doesn't allow me to afford a new or even used one...

I tried it with a 741 and a TL071 and liked the TL071. All I did was add the diodes I mentioned in the email, sounds good to my ears, like a "better" Blues Driver.
