i saw a 56 strat at the chicago music exchange that was in pretty decent shape, just had some arm wear and fretboard wear, looked like it had been played well for about 20 years and then stored, i think they wanted like 45,000 for it.
which isn't bad considering that ones WAY more beat to hell command 10,000 more, but still,
too damn much for a strat.
now i would pay 45,000 for a prototype jaguar in shorline gold with matching stock, perloid guard signed by leo and george.
but it would have to have the original case, becuz we all know that vintage cases keep vintage mojo arrows flowing correctly in a guitar.

Fifty grand for a guitar is ridiculous. At that price, no matter how beat up it is you would never want to play it, and forget about taking it to a gig! For me, guitars are for making music, not for use as a substitute for a savings bond.
And concerning relics, I still think it's better to just buy a guitar and play the hell out of it if you want it to look like a beater. That way, the wear will always look authentic because it is authentic. Besides, having a giant Custom Shop logo engraved on the back of your pro-reliced guitar immediately cancels out any potential vintage mojo street cred.

Haha, yeah the custom shop on the back was putting me off a bit, but it played so fucking nicely, and it was so beautiful :( I've never felt like that over a Strat before.

Fuck I've just found that same type of Strat that GC in Atlanta wanted $1999 for on GAK.co.uk and they want £2199 for it :(
