I'm needing a set of p90s.
I've got a new matched set of alnico single coils with white robroe covers from MyRareGuitars that have never been installed. Not sure how those sound. I've also got a matched set of ceramics from a 1984 Squier Bullet 1. They have black strat covers. They have a real decent sound and output. I'm not sure what brand or how expensive your p90s are but I'm just looking for a cheap set of creme colored p90s for a tele project.
If your interested I'll take some pics and get you some output readings.

A matched headstock....
I sacrificed the Jagstang neck I had (Which by the way is nicer than the nicest Mustang neck I've ever played). She now has a color headstock. I'll be putting a Jaguar decal (Since I decided to make 99 % Jag) There were some extra holes drilled in it cuz somebody had put different tuners on it before I got it, I filled those with grain filler. I also wetsanded the whole back with #220 and then #800 (I know big jump, but that's all I had handy)
I put a bit of stain on an old shirt and slightly applied 1 very light coat on the back except the heel area. The serial # and the made in Japan were left intact. There is no color difference with the sanded part and the non sanded part. (There was before I stained it, very faint but you could see it).

Is that an original body? It looks ash... very rare on a Jag until the mid 70s. They only used ash on blonde finishes, not many Jags had it.
It's a Rob(original) body and yes it is ash.
I think the stripes do need to be proportionately thicker than the standard Mustang's stripes because of the bigger body shape on a Jag. (Not that I even thought about it, I just went with what I had available for masking tape)
That's only on the top coat, right? Surely baby oil would prevent paint from sticking if you tried to paint over it?cooterfinger wrote:That's a negative on sanding color coats. I had an idea to refinish my old junk Strat copy for my six-year-old - she wants "fire" painted on it. I had contemplated taking the poly off the neck, but it's painted black and I am afraid of what might appear if I did!
Just wondered if knocking the gloss off might make it a bit more playable. It's a piece of rubbish but with some care it might make a fun thrasher.

Well I got the decal from Cooterfinger. I find these are slightly nicer than Jodedcal's. Here is decal freshly put on.
Also I think Rob(Og) is right and the body might be cursed. I had put a couple of coats of clear, but needed to touch up to touch up the back so I did 2 coats of color again. (I was out of clear at the time, so I put the guitar away) When the clear came in, (A week later) I had forgotten I had touched up the back, so I went heavy on the first coat but since the back had been touched up the paint started cracking.
The front was fine since it already had clear, however I went way too heavy on the back and it sort of dripped around to the front. So you see those 2 -3 spots now on the front.
I'm out of paint and each can is $25 bones, so I think Im just going to keep clearcoating it like that. (This shit was sanded down so it feels smooth to the touch)
And most of the parts are here, having a hard time buying the roller switches, so I'll probably wire it without one. The white guard I got didn't fit, but I git this tort one, I got as a trade. I got one Jag PU, the ones I got from cooterfinger are too small.
